Job summary

Lakshmi Constructions in Chennai is seeking a PEB AutoCAD Draftsman to prepare precise GA drawings, anchor bolt layouts, shop fabrication drawings and erection schemes for PEB projects. You will translate structural calculations into manufacturable drawings aligned with site installation requirements.

You will generate BOMs, weight schedules, and nesting layouts, review drawings for clashes with engineers, and ensure adherence to MBMA, AISC and IS standards.

Qualifications

• ITI or Diploma in Civil/Mechanical engineering.
• Minimum years of dedicated experience in PEB / Heavy Structural Steel drafting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D drafting.
• Ability to coordinate with engineers and site teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare GA drawings, anchor bolt layouts, and roof/wall cladding drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop shop fabrication drawings for primary/secondary members and erection drawings.
• Generate connection drawings per design calculations and guidelines.

Job description

Job Purpose

The PEB AutoCAD Draftsman will be responsible for preparing precise General Arrangement (GA) drawings, anchor bolt layouts, shop fabrication drawings, and erection schemes for Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) projects. The ideal candidate will bridge structural design calculations provided by design engineers with practical execution, ensuring drawings comply with manufacturing capabilities and site installation requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Drawing Preparation & Technical Drafting

• Prepare clear and detailed General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Anchor Bolt layouts, and Roof / Wall Cladding drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop accurate Shop Fabrication Drawings for primary structural members (columns, rafters, crane beams) and secondary members (purlins, girts, eave struts).
• Generate detailed connection drawings (bolted and welded joints) according to design calculations and engineering guidelines.
• Draft Erection / Field Assembly Drawings and mark numbers to guide on-site erection teams.

2. Bill of Materials (BOM) & Material Take-Off (MTO)

• Extract accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and weight schedules for steel plates, hot-rolled sections, cold-formed sections, hardware (bolts, nuts), and sheeting accessories.
• Prepare shear plans and nesting layouts to minimize material wastage during factory fabrication.

3. Coordination & Quality Control

• Review architectural/civil background drawings and client specifications to identify discrepancies or clashes early.
• Coordinate directly with Structural Engineers, Factory Production Managers, and Site Project Teams to address technical queries.
• Ensure all drafts strictly follow internal drafting standards, layer management rules, and industry guidelines (e.g., MBMA, AISC, IS standards).
• Revise drawings based on engineer markups, client feedback, or site modifications, maintaining clear version control registers.

Required Qualifications & Education

• Education: ITI (Draughtsman Civil/Mechanical) OR Diploma in Civil / Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum [X] years of dedicated experience in PEB / Heavy Structural Steel drafting.

Technical Skills & Tool Proficiency

• Primary Software: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D layout design, block libraries, sheet sets).

PEB Domain Knowledge:

• In-depth understanding of PEB structural framing (rigid frames, braced frames, lean-tos, mezzanines, crane gantry systems).
• Familiarity with cold-formed sections (Z & C purlins) and profile sheeting/insulation systems.
• Knowledge of structural detailing standards (MBMA, AISC, IS 800 / IS 801).

Desirable / Plus Skills:

• Hands-on exposure to Tekla Structures, MBS (Metal Building Software), or MECCO is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for material take-off sheets and project documentation.
