Job summary

DENSOL Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an AutoCAD Draftsman to create precise 2D drawings for sheet metal components and laboratory furniture. You will ensure drawings are ready for client approval and shop-floor use.

Responsibilities include creating BOMs, DXF files for fabrication, and coordinating with production. Strong attention to detail and proficiency in AutoCAD 2D are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong command of AutoCAD 2D; basic 3D is an advantage.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, Inventor or similar sheet metal modules is a plus.
• Sound understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, gauges and material properties.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and architectural layouts.
• Attention to detail and accurate dimensioning.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel for BOMs and drawing registers.

• Prepare detailed fabrication drawings for sheet metal parts in MS, GI, SS 304/316 and aluminum.
• Develop flat patterns and blank sizes with correct bend allowance, K-factor and bend deductions.
• Show bend lines, bend direction, hole and cut-out details, welding symbols and finish notes.
• Prepare drawings and DXF files suitable for laser cutting, punching and CNC bending.
• Apply GD&T and standard tolerances as required.
• Prepare layout drawings for laboratories: wall benches, island benches, fume hoods, storage cabinets, sink units, reagent racks and service spines.

Role summary

The AutoCAD Draftsman prepares accurate 2D drawings for sheet metal components and laboratory furniture. The drawings must be ready for client approval and for direct use on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

Sheet metal drawings

• Prepare detailed fabrication drawings for sheet metal parts in MS, GI, SS 304/316 and aluminum.
• Develop flat patterns and blank sizes with correct bend allowance, K-factor and bend deductions.
• Show bend lines, bend direction, hole and cut-out details, welding symbols and finish notes.
• Prepare drawings and DXF files suitable for laser cutting, punching and CNC bending.
• Apply GD&T and standard tolerances as required.

Lab furniture drawings

• Prepare layout drawings for laboratories: wall benches, island benches, fume hoods, storage cabinets, sink units, reagent racks and service spines.
• Prepare GA, elevation, section and exploded-view drawings for each furniture item.
• Detail worktop materials (epoxy, phenolic, granite, SS), modular carcasses and hardware.
• Coordinate furniture layouts with lab utilities: gas, water, drain, electrical and exhaust points.
• Follow ergonomic norms and applicable lab furniture standards (e.g. SEFA guidelines) where specified.

Documentation and coordination

• Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) and cutting lists from approved drawings.
• Convert client sketches, site measurements and markups into clean drawings.
• Incorporate client and engineer comments; maintain revision control and drawing registers.
• Support the production team with drawing clarifications during fabrication.
• Visit sites when needed to take measurements and verify installed layouts.
• Prepare as-built drawings at project completion.
