The Atlassian Solutions Architect is responsible for discovering, designing, building, and continuously improving the organizations Atlassian platform ecosystem across Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management (JSM), and associated applications and integrations.
This is a hands-on architecture and implementation role. The role works directly with Engineering, Product, QA, PMO, IT, Support, and Leadership teams to understand business and delivery requirements, translate them into scalable platform solutions, and implement those solutions.
The role will establish an integrated platform supporting engineering delivery, requirements and specification management, end-to-end traceability, portfolio and program governance, planning and capacity management, service management, automation, and reporting.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
List the primary duties and responsibilities required to perform this job in order of importance; typically, 4 to 6 key responsibilities.
- Lead discovery workshops to understand current processes, pain points, requirements, and future-state needs.
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable Atlassian solution architecture and detailed platform designs.
- Design and build solutions across Jira, Confluence, JSM, Jira Product Discovery, Jira Plans, and relevant Marketplace applications.
- Configure project structures, issue hierarchies, workflows, quality gates, fields, screens, permissions, approvals, automation, boards, and dashboards.
- Design and implement end-to-end traceability across requirements, specifications, engineering work, source code, testing, defects, releases, and governance approvals.
- Design Confluence information architecture, templates, approval workflows, and integration with Jira.
- Design and implement JSM portals, request types, workflows, queues, SLAs, approvals, Assets, and knowledge management.
- Integrate the Atlassian platform with GitHub, CI/CD tooling, Microsoft Teams, identity platforms, reporting tools, and other enterprise systems.
- Configure Jira Plans and portfolio structures supporting dependencies, milestones, releases, capacity, and scenario planning.
- Design automation supporting workflow controls, approval routing, rollups, notifications, alerts, and data quality.
- Establish scalable platform governance including shared configuration, permissions, administration standards, change control, and Marketplace application governance.
- Lead testing, UAT, migration, deployment, documentation, training, and platform handover.
- Develop and maintain solution designs, workflow specifications, configuration documentation, integration designs, and administration runbooks.
- Continuously identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve adoption, strengthen traceability, and automate manual work.

- 7+ years of experience in enterprise platform architecture, workflow systems, engineering tooling, service management, or related roles.
- 5+ years of strong hands-on Atlassian experience across Jira, Confluence, and JSM.
- Proven experience leading discovery solution design configuration implementation rollout.
- Strong hands-on capability in Jira workflows, schemes, fields, screens, permissions, automation, dashboards, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience designing scalable Atlassian solutions across multiple teams, projects, or business functions.
- Strong experience with Confluence architecture, templates, structured documentation, and Jira integration.
- Strong experience designing and implementing JSM solutions.
- Experience integrating Atlassian products with source control, CI/CD, collaboration, identity, and reporting platforms.
- Strong understanding of software and engineering delivery, including Agile, requirements, backlog management, testing, defects, releases, and DevOps.
- Experience with Atlassian APIs, webhooks, Forge, ScriptRunner, or equivalent extension capability is highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder discovery and workshop facilitation skills.
- Ability to challenge requirements and recommend simpler, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Ability to independently progress complex solutions with limited supervision.
- Strong solution design and technical documentation capability.
