Responsibilities

• Teach your subject, design Annual Plans, Unit Plans, and Lesson Plans; teach one or two subjects to ~30 students; conduct regular tests and assessments; build a positive school culture with a focus on learning and joy; collaborate with parents to create a positive learning environment
• Mentor nearly 15-20 students throughout the year; develop ways to ensure strong study habits, high attendance, and drive to excel; mentor students to identify best-fit career after Grade X
• Lead multiple projects essential to student learning with School Principal/Vice Principal, such as Annual Day, Sports Day, Hobby Clubs; mentor new teachers

Job description

The quality of school education available to students from low-income communities across India is abysmal. Their chances of getting admitted to a college or building a career are much lower than their high-income peers, condemning them to a life without voice or choice.iTeach was born to declare war on this status quo and create a level playing field for ALL children. We do this in Pune and Navi Mumbai by co-creating contextual school models with Municipal Corporations.

We run 12 free and high-impact secondary schools and a college-to-career program for the most disadvantaged students. In 2024, with a staff of 300 members across 12 schools, we will serve 4500 students and 3000 alumni - giving students a fighting chance at college, career, and citizenship. We aim to grow to 30 schools and 10,000 students over the next five years.

Key Responsibilities

A teacher at iTeach Schools wears multiple hats to ensure an excellent education for their students. The three different parts of the role are:

• l - Teaching your subject (60% time)
  • Use existing resources and design innovative Annual Plans, Unit Plans, and Lesson Plans
  • Teach one or two subjects of your expertise to your class (about 30 students in each class)
  • Conduct regular tests and assessments to monitor learning and give feedback to students
  • Build a positive and strong school culture with a focus on learning and joy
  • Collaborate with the parents of the students through regular meetings to create a positive learning environment
• ll - Mentoring students (20% time)
  • Mentor nearly 15-20 students throughout the year
  • Develop ways to ensure that these students have strong study habits, high attendance, and the drive to excel-share these plans with all teachers across the ecosystem
  • Mentor students to identify a best-fit career after Grade X
• lll - Leading projects in school (20% time)
  • Work with the School Principal and Vice Principal to lead multiple projects essential to student learning (based on your talents), such as Annual Day, Sports Day, Hobby Clubs, etc.
  • Use these opportunities to strengthen your leadership skills and mentor new teachers

Education & Experience

• Required: B.Ed/D.Ed with more than 60%
• Preferred: CTET/TET (Paper 1 or 2 Qualified)
