Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal seeks an Associate for its Transaction Advisory Group in India. Join a global capability center and support private equity and corporate clients with buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence across industries.

You will analyze earnings quality, cash flows, working capital, and key business drivers, preparing databooks and client-ready presentations while coordinating with management and advisors. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of financial accounting due diligence experience, preferably at a Big4 or top firm in India Global Delivery Center
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting and/or related major
  • CA/CPA/MBA qualifications
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Flexibility to work as both a team member and individual contributor
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced settings

Responsibilities

  • Assist with core financial due diligence, helping to identify key risks and potential deal breakers, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the business
  • Preparing project Databook
  • Analyze detailed financial statement information including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and key operational data
  • Synthesize and convert the data into meaningful information used to drive discussions with target management and drive observations and conclusions
  • Assess the quality of the target company’s reported earnings, net assets, and cash flows
  • After an investigative analysis, assist in the construction of deal-oriented reports and presentations for clients highlighting the key financial, commercial, and other findings
  • Aid the team in articulating how findings should be incorporated into client’s valuation and sale/purchase agreements and provide negotiating points
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls with target company management and client personnel
  • Be actively involved in building and maintaining client relationships and other business development opportunities

The Team

A&M’s Transaction Advisory Group (TAG) has an exciting entrepreneurial opportunity to join a budding global capability center team in India and work with the teams across Americas, EMEA and APAC. A&M TAG is seeking an associate to bring their energy, passion, and expertise to help our clients get the answers they need to get the deal done. We provide private equity and corporate clients buy side and sell side financial accounting due diligence. TAG professionals actively engage in assessing a target’s quality of earning, analyzing cash flows, reviewing working capital, identifying key business drivers, reviewing forecasts, and conducting comprehensive discussions with management and their advisors.

How You Will Contribute

As an Associate, you will have the opportunity to work with our highly motivated and effective team of professionals on a variety of interesting global projects across different industries including but not limited to manufacturing, distribution, consumer, retail, restaurants, business and industrial services as well as healthcare, software & technology, energy and financial services. You will gain exposure to our integrated due diligence approach that goes beyond traditional quality of earning analyses and focus on key value drivers for sponsors and lenders.

Our integrated due diligence approach combines our deep operational, functional and industry expertise with Big Four quality financial accounting and tax services to drive value throughout the investment lifecycle.

Considering the pace of targeted growth, we are keen to find people who are entrepreneurial, driven by a passion to drive significant growth (people who can think in multiples of growth rather than percentages), are comfortable with ambiguity, will roll up the sleeves and be hands on to get things done and can be independent requiring limited cover. The role will be initially based in Delhi NCR. However, the person should be open to travel as and when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with core financial due diligence, helping to identify key risks and potential deal breakers, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the business

  • Assess the quality of the target company’s reported earnings, net assets, and cash flows
  • After an investigative analysis, assist in the construction of deal-oriented reports and presentations for clients that highlight the key financial, commercial, and other findings facing investments and the drivers behind maintainable profits and cash flows
  • Aid the team in further articulating how such findings should be incorporated into the client’s valuation and sale, purchase agreement and provide other negotiating points
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls with target company management and with client personnel
  • Be actively involved in building and maintaining client relationships and other business development opportunities
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of financial accounting due diligence experience, preferably at a Big4 or a top accounting firm in their India Global Delivery Center
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting and/or related major
  • Chartered Accountant (CA)/ Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/ Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Flexibility to work as both a team member in a collaborative setting and as an individual contributor
  • Ability to thrive and be effective in fast-paced settings
