Qualification- MBBS and MS/DNB/MD in in in the concerned subject and as per these regulations.
(a) (i) Assistant Professor in the subject for four years in a recognised medical institution
or for five years for those appointed directly as Assistant Professor in Government
medical institution; or
(ii) a Specialist Medical Officer of the Armed Forces, having at least five years of clinical experience in the relevant specialty after obtaining the recognised Postgraduate qualification in the subject, of which at least three years teaching experience as Assistant
Professor in a teaching hospital of the Armed Forces; and
(b) (i) have published at least two research publications after becoming Assistant
Professor and must be amongst first three authors;
(ii) have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from a recognised
medical institution designated by the Commission; and
(iii) shall be required to undergo Basic Course in Medical Education provided their broad
specialty subject is covered under undergraduate training.
Note 1: In the specialty of Aviation Medicine and Marine Medicine, maximum of four
years experience in Flying Squadrons and in Diving and Escape training Schools,
respectively, will be considered equivalent to two years of teaching experience for becoming Associate Professor.
Note 2: A non-teaching Consultant or Specialist or Medical Officer, possessing
postgraduate medical degree with ten years of experience in at least 220 bedded
Government hospital shall be eligible to become Associate Professor of that broad
specialty and on such appointment, shall be required to undergo Basic Course in Medical Education and Basic Course in Biomedical Research within two years of the appointment.
