Job summary

Newton School of Technology in India is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer + Instructor to join the Computer Science Department on an immediate joining basis across NST campuses.

The role blends deep AI/ML expertise with teaching, curriculum design, and student mentoring, aiming to deliver hands-on courses, labs, and industry-connected projects that prepare graduates for advanced tech roles.

Qualifications

• M.Tech or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; or UGC NET-qualified with a relevant Master’s degree
• 5+ years of relevant professional/academic experience in AI/ML, Data Science, ML, CS, or related domain
• Proven experience in teaching, training, mentoring, research, or building and deploying AI/ML solutions

Responsibilities

• Teach Applied AI/ML: Design and deliver practical, project-based courses in AI/ML, including Python for ML, Statistics, ML Algorithms, Deep Learning, NLP, CV, MLOps, and Generative AI
• Develop Industry-Relevant Curriculum: Design and update AI/ML curriculum to reflect industry tools, techniques, research, and best practices
• Mentor Student Projects: Guide students through hands-on AI/ML projects, providing technical direction, code reviews, and feedback
• Guide & Mentor Students: Advise students on developing practical AI/ML skills, career pathways, internships and placements
• Stay Current: Bring latest AI/ML research, tools, technologies, and trends into classroom
• Collaborate: Work with faculty and industry partners to create unified learning experience
• Assess Practical Skills: Design/evaluate assignments, projects, exams
• Academic Leadership: Contribute to academic initiatives, faculty development, research, and improvements

About the Role :

We are currently looking for a Machine Learning Engineer + Instructor to join our Computer Science Department. This is an immediate joining opportunity open across all NST campuses.

The role is ideal for experienced academicians and industry professionals with strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning who are passionate about teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, and shaping the next generation of technology talent.

The position combines deep technical expertise with academic responsibilities, including designing and delivering course content, conducting practical lab sessions, mentoring students, guiding projects, and contributing to the development of industry-relevant AI/ML education.

The ideal candidate will also collaborate with academic leaders and industry partners to ensure curriculum relevance, integrate real-world problem-solving, and drive strong learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Applied AI/ML: Design and deliver practical, project-based courses in AI/ML, including Python for ML, Statistics, ML Algorithms, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, MLOps, and Generative AI.
• Develop Industry-Relevant Curriculum: Design and continuously update AI/ML curriculum to reflect current industry tools, techniques, research, and best practices.

• Collaborate: Work closely with faculty members, academic leaders, and industry partners to create a unified and effective learning experience.
• Assess Practical Skills: Design and evaluate assignments, projects, examinations, and assessments focused on real-world applications.
• Academic Leadership: Contribute to academic initiatives, faculty development, research activities, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• M.Tech or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; or UGC NET-qualified with a relevant Master’s degree in the respective field.
• 5+ years of relevant professional/academic experience in AI/ML, Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a closely related domain.
• Proven experience in teaching, training, mentoring, research, or building and deploying AI/ML solutions.
• Strong understanding of core ML algorithms, classical and deep learning techniques, including CNNs, RNNs, Transformers, model evaluation, and statistics.
• Strong understanding of current AI/ML research, tools, technologies, and industry trends.
• Ability to design and deliver high-quality technical courses and practical learning experiences.
• Passion for teaching, mentoring, and developing students into industry-ready technology professionals.

Required Skills:

Technical:

• Expert-level Python programming.
• Strong proficiency with data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
• Hands-on experience with ML/DL frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Strong SQL and data handling skills.
• Understanding of MLOps practices and tools including Git, Docker, and cloud platforms such as AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Strong knowledge of AI domains including NLP, Computer Vision, Generative AI, and LLMs.
