Job summary

Newton School, a premier technology education institution in India, seeks an Instructor to mentor the next generation of software engineers in Data Structures & Algorithms and Competitive Programming. You will guide students through coding contests, technical interviews, and real-world problem solving.

Ideal candidates have a programming background, enjoy teaching, and can inspire learners to tackle challenging problems with clarity and confidence. This full-time role is on-site in Maharashtra.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in software development, competitive programming, or teaching assistance.
  • Strong command of data structures and algorithms.
  • Proficient in C++.
  • Demonstrated competitive programming experience.
  • Experience with online judge platforms (Codeforces, CodeChef, LeetCode).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engaging classroom sessions on DSA and competitive programming.
  • Teach algorithms, data structures, problem-solving techniques, and coding patterns.
  • Mentor students through progressively challenging problems.
  • Prepare assignments, contests, and practice problems.
  • Provide feedback and track student performance.
  • Collaborate with the academic team to improve curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct engaging classroom sessions on DSA and Competitive Programming.
  • Teach algorithms, data structures, problem-solving techniques, and coding patterns.
  • Mentor students through progressively challenging coding problems.
  • Prepare coding assignments, contests, assessments, and practice problems.
  • Conduct doubt-solving and individual/group mentoring sessions.
  • Help students improve their performance on platforms such as Codeforces, CodeChef, LeetCode, and AtCoder.
  • Mentor students for competitive programming contests and technical interviews.
  • Track student performance and provide actionable feedback.
  • Collaborate with the academic team to continuously improve curriculum, problem sets, and learning outcomes.
What We're Looking For:
  • 1–2 years of experience in Software Development, Competitive Programming, Coding Instruction, Teaching Assistance, or a related field.
  • Strong command of Data Structures & Algorithms.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ preferred.
  • Demonstrated Competitive Programming experience.
  • Experience with platforms such as Codeforces, CodeChef, AtCoder, LeetCode, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • A genuine interest in teaching and mentoring students.
Good to Have
  • Strong Codeforces / CodeChef rating.
  • ICPC participation or experience in competitive programming contests.
  • Experience mentoring students or conducting coding sessions.
  • Experience creating programming problems or conducting coding contests.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms beyond interview-level DSA.
