GEA Group in Bengaluru seeks an Associate Mechanical Design to craft mechanical solutions for advanced milk harvesting technologies. You will work with global engineering teams to drive automation, digitalization, and smart milking solutions across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities include designing components, validating assemblies, and creating manufacturing drawings with 3D CAD. Strong communication and collaboration in international settings are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of professional mechanical engineering or product development experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using Siemens NX preferred.
  • Good knowledge of plastics engineering, sheet metal design, valve technology, pneumatics, and pump systems.
  • Understanding of drive and motion control systems and basic electrical principles.
  • Familiarity with CE Machinery Directive/Regulation and relevant standards.
  • Knowledge of milking technology or agricultural equipment an advantage.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX, Teamcenter Active Workspace, SAP and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork in cross-functional, international environments.
  • Good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate mechanical components and systems for dairy farming applications, including advanced milk harvesting technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product development and continuous improvement of milking systems.
  • Perform maintenance and engineering changes for mechanical components throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Develop sheet metal components and bent part designs per product and manufacturing requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation and engineering drawings to support development and manufacturing.
  • Provide technical support to QA and Production by resolving design queries.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and external manufacturers for component outsourcing.
  • Collaborate with global engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Quality teams to achieve project goals.
  • Contribute to innovation while following engineering procedures and supporting continuous development.
  • Demonstrate independent problem-solving and present findings to the engineering team.
  • Provide ideas and recommendations supporting product strategy and future development.

Associate Mechanical Design is responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical solutions for advanced milk harvesting technologies used in digital agriculture. This role involves collaborating with global engineering teams to develop reliable, efficient, and sustainable products that support automation, digitalization, and smart milking solutions. By contributing to new product development and continuous product improvement, the position enhances machine reliability, manufacturing efficiency, and animal welfare while leveraging engineering expertise, innovation, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver industry‑leading solutions.

Responsibilities / Tasks

The Associate Mechatronics Design is responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of components and modules for conventional and automated milking systems. The role involves collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams on product development projects, contributing to innovative solutions for digital agriculture, and ensuring reliable, high‑quality mechatronic systems throughout the product lifecycle.

Your tasks
  • Design, develop, and validate mechanical components, assemblies, and complete system solutions for dairy farming applications, including advanced milk harvesting technologies.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams to support the development and continuous improvement of conventional and automated milking systems.

  • Perform product maintenance and engineering changes for mechanical components and modules throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Design and develop mechanical parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software, including the creation of detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.

  • Develop sheet metal components and bent part designs in accordance with product and manufacturing requirements.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, engineering drawings, and product‑related documentation to support development and manufacturing activities.

  • Provide technical support to Quality Assurance and Production teams by resolving design‑related queries and implementing engineering solutions.

  • Collaborate with Quality Management and Purchasing teams to support supplier development, component outsourcing, and technical coordination with external manufacturers.

  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and cross‑functional departments including Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Service, and Quality to achieve project objectives.

  • Contribute to innovation initiatives by following established engineering procedures, proposing product and process improvements, and supporting continuous development activities.

  • Demonstrate independent problem‑solving, flexibility in managing assigned project goals, and the ability to present technical findings and recommendations to the engineering team.

  • Provide ideas, alternatives, and recommendations that support product strategy, project direction, and future development within Farm Technologies.

Your Profile / Qualifications
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • 2–5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or product development.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using Siemens NX is preferred.

  • Good knowledge of plastics engineering, sheet metal design, valve technology, pneumatics, and pump systems used in mechanical applications.

  • Understanding of drive and motion control systems, with basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles.

  • Familiarity with the CE Machinery Directive/Regulation and the application of relevant engineering standards.

  • Knowledge of milking technology, agricultural equipment, or related industry applications is considered an advantage.

  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as Siemens NX, Teamcenter Active Workspace, SAP, and MS Office applications.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a structured and proactive approach to engineering tasks.
