UST in Chennai seeks a Team Leader to drive a robust control environment around pre- and post-trade mandate monitoring and support investment teams to deliver accurate, timely results in a fast-paced operations setting.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years in onboarding or custodian account opening.
  • Understanding of trade operations and settlements.
  • Experience managing SSIs within DTCC.
  • Strong knowledge of SWIFT.
  • Ability to manage high-volume tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in Asset Management preferred.
  • Strong organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Complete custodian opening documentation.
  • Manage custodian standing instructions for repatriation of non-base currencies.
  • Maintain Standing Settlement Instructions in DTCC.
  • Open custody markets for clients and funds, including complex markets.
  • Set up third-party accounts on our platform for CFD and Loan accounts.
  • Maintain broker-related macros to facilitate trade settlement.
  • Monitor India trading accounts and renew FPIs where required.
  • Perform checks to validate market accounts before trading.
  • Set up Wall Street Office for Loan trading and Triana for CFD trading.
  • Support projects to implement Global Custodian Direct with custodians.
  • Escalate issues to the Team Leader as needed.

The Opportunity

UST is looking for Team Leader; you will play a critical role in delivering a robust control environment and supporting Investment Teams to ensure effective pre- and post-trade mandate restriction monitoring all within challenging deadlines. You will provide subject matter expertise, particularly in the oversight and delivery of complex queries and tasks, and handling ad-hoc requests. We are looking for someone who likes working as part of a team, is comfortable with a fast-paced operations environment and has a strong attention to detail.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Completion of custodian opening documentation
  • Managing of custodian standing instructions for repatriation of non base currencies
  • Updating and maintenance of Standing Settlement instructions in DTCC
  • Opening of custody markets for clients and Client funds including complex documented markets
  • Setup of third party accounts on our platform to facilitate CFD and Loan accounts
  • Maintenance of broker related macros to facilitate trade settlement
  • Monitoring of India trading accounts and completion of FPI licence renewals
  • Perform checks on behalf of investment to check market account validity prior to trading
  • Setup of Wall Street Office to facilitate Loan trading
  • Setup of Triana to facilitate CFD trading
  • Support projects to implement Global Custodian Direct with existing and new custodians
  • Escalate issues immediately to the Team Leader Skills and Behaviours Required?
Required Skills
  • 2 - 4 years’ experience within an onboarding or custodian account opening team
  • A good understanding of trade operations and settlements would be adventagious
  • Experience of managing SSI’s within DTCC
  • A good understanding of SWIFT
  • Managing a high volume of varied tasks efficiently and meeting internal and external deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to delivering a high-quality onboarding and offboarding experience for our clients
  • Good understanding of operational risks
  • Previous experience working within an Asset Management firm or similar.
  • Strong organisational abilities are needed to manage multiple events simultaneously, prioritising tasks and maintaining a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • A motivated, committed and enthusiastic person who thrives working in a close team environment
  • The ability to identify issues and develop solutions quickly and effectively is important for addressing any challenges that may arise during the onboarding process.
  • The ability to analyse data and workflows to help improve processes and enhance the efficiency of the onboarding experience.
  • A proactive learner that is quick at picking up new processes
  • Can work on own initiative whilst ensuring the team manager is aware of what you are delivering
