Job summary

Eaton in Maharashtra, India seeks Mechanical Engineer to support product specification, design, testing for Medium Voltage LIPE products. You will apply CAD modeling, 3D design in Inventor/Creo and Enovia, contributing to pre-launch and ProLaunch projects while optimizing cost.

Collaborate with product owners and manufacturing to deliver on-time features, perform design calculations, prototyping and validation, while pursuing innovations and IP generation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 1 year experience in medium voltage product development.
• Good understanding of VAVE and design for cost.

Responsibilities

• Size, model and simulate sub-systems to meet IEEE/IEC specs.
• Prepare CAD models, 2D drawings, BOM; document release in SAP/Enovia via ECR.
• Collaborate with leads and cross-functional teams on NPD/ProLaunch.
• Develop prototype and testing protocols; support proto builds.
• Identify risks and drive continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

Mechanical Engineer to support product specification, design, implementation, testing for Eaton’s Medium Voltage LIPE products. We are looking for motivated and passionate professional with experience in Medium voltage product design, 3D inventor, Creo, Enovia, leveraging Analysis first approach. He/She should support in complex PreLaunch and ProLaunch NPI projects. He/She should also design production while optimizing the product cost and must have strong skills in CAD modeling.

Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes. Problem solvers who are excited about learning new technologies, understand and develop actions to increase maturity, work with team members for concept generation, detailed design and industrialization activities

• System/ sub-system component sizing, modeling and simulation to meet customer requirements and IEEE standards, especially with short time current, electromagnetic, thermal and structural requirements
• Work with Leads to perform design calculations, quick proto trials and documenting lessons learnt
• Prepare CAD models, 2D drawings, BoM and document release in SAP, Enovia through ECR process
• Research, review, and implement best-practices, new and emerging technologies, and design patterns to new and existing development
• Maintain and enhance technical proficiency in mechanical engineering related development environments, processes, and tools
• Plan and manage development work to achieve on-time delivery of NPD / VAVE, features and enhancements
• Coordinate and collaborate with product owners, leads, design, simulation, reliability, marketing and manufacturing development teams to produce engineering designs and specifications for new features and enhancements
• Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks as they arise during development
• Demonstrate strong learning agility while gaining in-depth product / process knowledge
• Generate ideas and innovative solutions which will provide competitive edge to business products
• Think creatively with optimizing delivery time maintaining quality and optimized cost
• Develop prototype & testing protocols, assist leads on proto build and testing trials
• Actively contribute to innovation in terms of disclosures, patents, trade secrets
• Utilize continuous improvement mindset while improving milestone completion timelines and use of digital tools
• Active communication with the cross functional team to ensure schedule, cost and performance alignment

Qualifications

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in engineering in Mechanical

• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in medium voltage product development is desired

Skills

• Strong engineering background with sound knowledge of electromechanical physics like short citcuit, temperature rise, impulse withstand, mechanical endurance, switching & fault closure in accordance to IEEE/ IEC standards
• Hands on experience on prototype development
• Good understanding of VAVE process
• Proficient in Inventor, Creo, 3D modelling, SAP, Enovia
• Knowledge of medium voltage domain, electromechanical product design, metal & polymer materials"
• Good technical knowledge in Electrical products like medium voltage conenctors, bushings etc
• Knowledge of IEEE standard, medium voltage distribution, power protection devices
• Strong skills in 3D modelling in inventor/Creo, SAP & enovia
• Experience with product design, prototyping, testing, agile methodologies
• Knowldge of engineering change order process
