Job Summary
The Sr Engineer – Engineering Design (EDRC) is responsible for execution and coordination of multidisciplinary railway design works including Signalling (S&T), Electrical, and Civil interfaces. The role requires independent handling of assigned design packages and ensuring compliance with Indian Railways and RDSO standards.
The position operates at an execution‑focused supervisory level without direct team management responsibility.
Core Design Responsibilities (Primary Requirement)
- Prepare and develop railway signalling design drawings and documents
- Cable Routing & Core Charts
- Trenching & Interface Drawings
- Power Supply / IPS Interface Drawings
- Perform design modifications and updates based on project requirements
- Ensure design compliance with RDSO / IR / CORE standards
Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, and Signalling teams for interface alignment
- Prepare BOQs, technical submittals, and design documentation
- Incorporate client/consultant comments and maintain revision control
- Participate in design reviews, audits, and internal quality checks
Support Activities (Secondary)
- Provide technical inputs during testing & commissioning (T&C)
- Support design validation and troubleshooting from design perspective
Technical Skills Required
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D mandatory)
- Knowledge of:
- Interlocking systems (EI / RRI / Panel)
- SIP, RCC, Cable Plans
- Railway signalling principles
- Exposure to tools like MicroStation / design tools (added advantage)
- Ability to independently execute design tasks
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good multidisciplinary coordination skills
- Strong documentation and revision control discipline
- Ability to handle multiple deliverables under timelines
Required Qualifications
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / ECE / Instrumentation / Civil
4–7 years of railway design experience
Knowledge of railway interlocking principles and standards
