We are seeking an Associate Database Administrator (Fresher) to assist in installation, configuration, monitoring, and support of databases across on-premises and cloud environments, under the guidance of senior DBAs.

This role offers hands-on exposure to multiple database technologies, cloud platforms, and real-world production environments.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of databases and SQL.

• Familiarity with Linux commands and Windows OS.
• Basic understanding of backups and data protection concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing and configuring RDBMS databases.

• Monitor cluster health and report issues under supervision.
• Learn cloud-managed databases and basic migrations.
• Document SOPs and participate in incident response as a learner.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Database Administrator (Fresher) to assist in the installation, configuration, monitoring, and support of database systems across on-premises and cloud environments. This role is ideal for candidates at the beginning of their DBA career who want hands‑on exposure to multiple database technologies, cloud platforms, and real‑world production environments under the guidance of senior DBAs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in installing, setting up, and configuring RDBMS databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle
• Assist in installing and configuring NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
• Support basic database initialization, storage setup, and parameter configuration
• Assist with patching and minor version upgrades

Clustering, Replication & High Availability

• Assist senior DBAs in setting up database replication and clustering
• Support MongoDB replica sets and sharding under guidance
• Monitor cluster health and report issues

Cloud & Managed Database

• Assist in setting up cloud‑managed database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, Azure Database for MySQL/PostgreSQL, etc.)
• Support configuration of backups, maintenance windows, and connectivity
• Learn hybrid database architectures (on‑prem + cloud)

Database Migration

• Perform database exports, imports, and validation checks
• Support testing and verification after migrations

Monitoring & Routine Maintenance

• Monitor database availability, disk usage, performance metrics, and logs
• Perform routine maintenance tasks as instructed (log cleanup, basic health checks)
• Escalate alerts and anomalies to senior DBAs

Security & Access Management

• Assist in managing database users, roles, and permissions
• Support implementation of basic security best practices
• Learn encryption, auditing, and compliance concepts

Performance Support

• Assist in identifying slow queries and basic performance issues
• Collect performance metrics and logs for analysis
• Support index creation and basic tuning under supervision

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery

• Assist in configuring and monitoring database backups
• Participate in backup verification and restore testing
• Learn Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts and procedures
• Provide L1 database support for non‑production and production environments
• Work closely with senior DBAs, application teams, and infrastructure teams
• Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and learn best practices
• Participate in incident response and RCA discussions as a learner

Qualifications and Skills

Technical Skills

• Basic understanding of databases and SQL
• knowledge of RDBMS concepts (tables, indexes, transactions)
• Basic exposure to at least one database (MySQL / PostgreSQL / SQL Server / MongoDB)
• Familiarity with Linux commands and file systems and Windows Operating System
• Basic understanding of backups and data protection concepts

Good to Have

• Academic or internship exposure to databases
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure)
• Understanding of replication, clustering, and sharding concepts (theoretical)
• Basic scripting knowledge (Shell / Python – optional)

Education & Certifications (Preferred)

o bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field

o Database or cloud fundamentals certifications (preferred, not mandatory)
