Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Senior Analyst to support the Securities Lending front office with client reporting, internal MI statistics, and performance analysis. You will write SQL queries, develop reports using Power BI, and collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Operations and Trading desks to deliver insightful analyses.

The role requires 4+ years of relevant experience, proficiency in Excel macros, MS Access, SQL and Power BI, and an MBA or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years as Senior Analyst
  • 12 months as Technical Coordinator
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel macros, MS Access, SQL & Power BI
  • Graduate or Postgraduate (MBA or equivalent)
  • Securities Lending/ Portfolio Management / Database Management experience is preferred
  • Mathematically minded with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in pressurized environment and manage priorities effectively
  • Highly motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Open to work in shifts as per business requirements

Responsibilities

  • Review daily/weekly/monthly BAU reports and retrieve data via SQL queries.
  • Analyze and interpret queries/tables in Access/SQL/Power BI for in-depth research.
  • Work on product-related projects assigned by front office teams.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and requests for information.
  • Recommend procedural changes to existing processes using root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with Risk, Compliance, Operations and Short Duration Fixed Income teams to produce risk-related reports for Securities Lending.

Support the Securities Lending front office teams in all matters relating to client reporting, Internal MI statistics and NT & Borrower performance analysis. Coordinate with Northern Trust Account Managers / Relationship Managers, Global Equity and Fixed Income Trading Desk and other stakeholders to help evaluate Securities Lending fee/revenue estimates for new prospects, RFP, RFI and existing clients. Assisting the company’s bid to expand clientele/business Coordinate with Risk, Compliance, Operations and Short Duration Fixed Income teams in producing various risk related reports for Securities Lending Aptitude in analyzing and interpreting queries/tables in Access/SQL/Power BI to conduct in-depth research. Respond to internal and external inquiries and requests for information. Demonstrates excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skills. Handle projects assigned by the business teams. Understand business need & develop reports using SQL/Power BI/VBA.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Expected to work and review the daily/weekly/monthly BAU reports; Retrieve data by being able to write SQL queries and hence excellent knowledge or certifications on SQL.
  • Aptitude in analysing and interpreting queries/tables in Access/SQL/Power BI to conduct in-depth research.
  • Work on product related projects assigned by front office teams.
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries and requests for information.
  • Recommend appropriate procedural changes to existing processes to management using root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with Risk, Compliance, Operations and Short Duration Fixed Income teams in producing various risk related reports for Securities Lending.
Skills / Experience required
  • 24 months as Senior Analyst
  • 12 months as Technical Coordinator
  • 4 + years of relevant experience
