The Corporate Institute is seeking an Assistant Vice President – Strategy to work with the leadership team in understanding the business, its value proposition, growth priorities, and strategic objectives. The role will focus on strategic planning, business analysis, FP&A, financial reporting, and providing data-driven insights to support key management decisions.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Vice President – Strategy to work closely with the leadership team in understanding the business, its value proposition, growth priorities, and strategic objectives. The role will focus on strategic planning, business analysis, FP&A, financial reporting, and providing data-driven insights to support key management decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the leadership team to understand the business model, value proposition, strategic priorities, and growth objectives.
• Drive strategic analysis and support the development and execution of business plans.
• Conduct financial planning & analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and business performance tracking.
• Analyze balance sheets, P&L statements, cash flows, and other financial reports to identify key business trends and opportunities.
• Prepare management reports, financial dashboards, and strategic presentations for senior leadership.
• Translate financial and operational data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Support evaluation of business performance, profitability, cost structures, and growth opportunities.
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand business drivers and assess strategic initiatives.
• Support strategic projects, including business expansion, transformation, partnerships, or M&A initiatives where applicable.

Preferred Industry Experience

• Strong experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred.
• Candidates with experience working directly with construction companies will be preferred.
• Experience in a construction-serving company or businesses providing products, services, or solutions to the construction sector will be an added advantage.
• M&A experience is not mandatory if the candidate has strong construction-sector exposure and demonstrates excellent strategic and financial capabilities.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of the construction industry and its business dynamics.
• Strong expertise in FP&A, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Good understanding of balance sheets, P&L, cash flow, and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing management reports and MIS for senior leadership.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert data into business insights.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with senior leadership and influence strategic decision-making.
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint; experience with financial modelling or BI tools will be an advantage.
