EXL is seeking an Assistant Vice President Data Science, Insurance Analytics in Gurugram/Delhi NCR to lead analytics engagements for insurance clients, especially life insurance, and drive growth and quality across delivery teams.

You will connect business priorities with data science, engineering, visualization, and automation, supervising senior analysts and coordinating offshore talent to ensure measurable client value and timely outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10-18 years of experience in core analytics and insurance analytics.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python, SQL, ML, data modeling, data manipulation, Power BI and Tableau.
• Mandatory experience with Oracle and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure; familiarity with Snowflake and cloud storage such as Amazon S3 or Azure Data Lake Gen2.

About the Role

As Assistant Vice President Data Science, Insurance Analytics, you will own the delivery and expansion of analytics engagements for insurance clients, with particular relevance to life insurance. You will connect business priorities with data science, machine learning, data engineering, visualization, reporting, and automation solutions that improve decisions, efficiency, risk management, and client value. The role combines senior client leadership, domain expertise, technical direction, delivery governance, and team management. You will work with stakeholders across client and EXL teams, identify growth opportunities, diagnose process inefficiencies, and ensure solutions move from concept to dependable implementation. You will lead distributed and dual-shore teams, manage offshore talent development, and maintain accountability for quality, timelines, issue resolution, and measurable outcomes. This opportunity is intended for professionals who can join immediately or within a maximum one-month notice period.

Key Responsibilities

• Own project delivery across insurance analytics engagements, establishing governance, tracking daily progress, resolving risks, and ensuring deliverables meet agreed timelines, quality standards, and measurable client outcomes.
• Build trusted-advisor relationships with client stakeholders, lead recurring status meetings and working sessions, and identify new opportunities that expand EXLs analytics impact across the insurance value chain.
• Provide technical direction across data modeling, data manipulation, predictive modeling, visualization, reporting, automation, and AI or machine learning initiatives using scalable engineering and analytics practices.
• Serve as the functional and insurance-domain expert, translating business pain points into practical analytical solutions that improve decision quality, process efficiency, customer outcomes, risk management, or profitability

Essential Skills & Technologies

• Deep insurance-domain experience,with 1018 years in core analytics, data science, predictive modeling, consulting, implementation, and direct client management.
• Strong hands‑on proficiency in Python, SQL, statistical and machine learning techniques, data modeling, data manipulation, Power BI, and Tableau for production-oriented analytics and executive reporting.
• Experience with Oracle and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is mandatory, alongside cloud data storage and engineering platforms such as Snowflake, Amazon S3, or Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
