Job summary

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated Assistant System Administrator to support the IT infrastructure, systems, networks, and day-to-day technical operations of the organization. The candidate will assist in maintaining computers, servers, networks, software, and IT security while providing technical support to employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, laptops, servers, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain Windows/Linux operating systems and troubleshoot system-related issues.
  • Provide hardware and software support to employees.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, LAN/Wi-Fi, printer, and peripheral issues.
  • Assist in managing user accounts, access permissions, passwords, and email accounts.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, antivirus checks, and backups.
  • Monitor server and network performance and report issues to the System Administrator.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and documentation.
  • Assist with data backup, recovery, and basic security procedures.
  • Install and configure software and ensure proper licensing.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware, software, networking, and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain records of IT incidents, service requests, and resolutions.
  • Ensure IT systems follow organizational security and operational policies.
  • Provide technical assistance during meetings, events, and other organizational activities.
Required Skills
  • Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic Linux.
  • Basic understanding of Networking – TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and user management.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Office applications.
  • Understanding of antivirus, system security, and backup procedures.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in System Administration, IT Support, or a similar role.
Preferred
  • Experience with Windows Server / Active Directory.
  • Basic knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft certifications will be an advantage.
