Job summary

Gvpr Engineers invites applications for an Assistant Project Manager to lead rural piped water supply schemes at project sites. The role focuses on planning, execution, monitoring, and coordination of civil works, water treatment, and distribution components in rural settings.

You will work with client departments, consultants, authorities, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure timely delivery, adherence to QA/QC procedures, and successful commissioning and handover of water systems.

Qualifications

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, execution, monitoring and completion of rural water supply projects.
• Coordinate construction activities for intake wells, WTPs, ESRs/OHSRs, pump houses, pipelines, and household connections.
• Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures, ITPs, drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Project Execution: Assist the Project Manager in planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of rural piped water supply projects.
• Pipeline & Civil Works: Supervise laying, jointing, testing, flushing, and commissioning of pipelines; monitor excavation, bedding, backfilling, road restoration, thrust blocks and related works; ensure proper execution of water treatment and storage structures.
• Project Planning & Monitoring: Assist in preparing weekly and monthly work plans and schedules; monitor progress and delays; prepare progress reports, MIS, DPRs, and management updates; support resource planning.
• Coordination: Coordinate with client departments, consultants, government authorities, subcontractors, vendors, local bodies, and site teams; resolve site-level issues with PM and engineering teams; coordinate with survey, planning, QA/QC, safety, procurement, stores, and billing teams.
• Quality Management: Ensure construction activities comply with QA/QC procedures, method statements, ITPs, drawings, and specifications; coordinate material testing and inspection.
• Safety: Ensure compliance with HSE policies and safety requirements; monitor safety during excavation, trenching, lifting, road work; coordinate with Safety Manager to eliminate hazards.
• Commercial & Contract Support: Assist in quantity measurements, RA bills, variation statements, and reconciliation of materials; monitor subcontractor performance and certify quantities based on execution; support PM in contractual matters.
• Commissioning & Handover: Assist in testing and commissioning of the complete water supply system; coordinate trial runs, pipeline pressure testing, chlorination/disinfection, pump testing, and commissioning; support preparation of as-built drawings and project handover.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of rural piped water supply projects.
• Ensure execution as per approved drawings, technical specifications, BOQ, contract conditions, and project schedule.
• Coordinate construction activities for intake wells, WTPs, ESRs/OHSRs, pump houses, pipelines, valve chambers, distribution networks, and household connections.

Pipeline & Civil Works

• Supervise laying, jointing, testing, flushing, and commissioning of DI/HDPE/uPVC/MS pipelines as applicable.
• Monitor excavation, bedding, backfilling, road restoration, thrust blocks, chambers, and other associated civil works.
• Ensure proper execution of water treatment and storage structures.

Project Planning & Monitoring

• Assist in preparing weekly and monthly work plans and project schedules.
• Monitor physical progress against planned targets and identify delays.
• Prepare progress reports, MIS, DPRs, and management updates.
• Support resource planning for manpower, materials, machinery, and subcontractors.

Coordination

• Coordinate with client departments, consultants, government authorities, subcontractors, vendors, local bodies, and site teams.
• Resolve site-level technical and execution issues in coordination with the Project Manager and engineering teams.
• Coordinate with survey, planning, QA/QC, safety, procurement, stores, and billing teams.

Quality Management

• Ensure construction activities comply with approved QA/QC procedures, method statements, ITPs, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate material testing and inspection of pipes, fittings, concrete, soil, and other construction materials.
• Ensure pressure testing, leakage testing, disinfection, and commissioning requirements are properly completed.

Safety

• Ensure compliance with project HSE policies and statutory safety requirements.
• Monitor safety during excavation, trenching, lifting operations, working near roads, and other construction activities.
• Coordinate with the Safety Manager to eliminate unsafe practices and site hazards.

Commercial & Contract Support

• Assist in quantity measurements, RA bills, variation statements, and reconciliation of materials.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and certify work quantities based on actual execution.
• Support the Project Manager in handling contractual and client-related matters.

Commissioning & Handover

• Assist in testing and commissioning of the complete water supply system.
• Coordinate trial runs, pipeline pressure testing, chlorination/disinfection, pump testing, and system commissioning.
• Support preparation of as-built drawings, completion documentation, and project handover.
