Job summary

AVIRATA DEFENCE SYSTEMS in Bengaluru is seeking a Sourcing Assistant Manager / Senior Manager to lead strategic sourcing and end-to-end procurement of fiber optic components. The role drives supplier development, negotiations, and supplier performance to ensure cost competitiveness and uninterrupted material availability for production.

The ideal candidate will have deep domain knowledge of fiber optic connectors, ferrules, fiber cables, and assembly consumables, with proven supplier management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or business administration.
• Postgraduate or professional certifications in supply chain/procurement preferred.
• Experience in supplier audits and capability assessments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Sourcing & Procurement: Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard domestic and international suppliers.
• Lead commercial negotiations, contracts, and long-term agreements.
• Drive supplier consolidation and strategic partnerships.
• Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, and onboarding.
• Establish supplier scorecards and performance review mechanisms.
• Collaborate with planning and production for demand forecasting and procurement planning.
• Monitor supplier lead times, inventory levels, and material availability.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation and alternate sourcing.
• Support import/export and logistics activities.

Job Title: Sourcing Assistant Manager / Senior Manager

Role Purpose

The role is responsible for driving strategic sourcing, supplier development, and end-to-end

procurement of components used in fiber optic cable assembly manufacturing. The incumbent

will ensure cost competitiveness, supplier reliability, quality compliance, and uninterrupted

material availability to support production and business growth.

This role requires strong domain expertise in sourcing fiber optic components such as

connectors, ferrules, fiber cables, and assembly consumables, along with proven experience in

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard domestic and international suppliers
• Lead commercial negotiations, contracts, and long-term agreements
• Drive supplier consolidation and strategic partnerships
• Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, and onboarding

• Develop alternate vendors for risk mitigation and continuity planning
• Collaborate with suppliers on cost, quality, and delivery improvements
• 3. Procurement Planning & Execution
• Work closely with planning and production teams for demand forecasting
• Ensure timely procurement aligned with production schedules
• Monitor supplier lead times, inventory levels, and material availability
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation and alternate sourcing
• Perform cost analysis and should-costing for key components
• Lead value engineering and localization initiatives
• 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams
• Support new product development (NPI) through supplier readiness
• Ensure seamless coordination for import/export and logistics activities
• 6. Compliance & Governance
• Ensure adherence to procurement policies and industry standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.)
• Maintain supplier documentation, contracts, and audit records
• Support traceability and compliance requirements for telecom/aerospace products

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Business Administration
• Postgraduate or professional certifications in Supply Chain/Procurement (preferred)

Experience

• 7–12 years of experience in sourcing/procurement
• Experience across engineering/manufacturing industry (preferably fiber optics /
• Proven track record in supplier management and strategic sourcing
