Legrand is seeking a Design & Development Engineer for Low Voltage Switchgear in Thane. The role involves designing and developing switchgear concepts, validating samples, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure production readiness.

The candidate will improve products and processes, qualify tools with ME/QA teams, and document designs using common 2D/3D tools. Prior experience in electro-mechanical products is preferred.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in product design and development, preferably in electro-mechanical or switchgear industry.
• Knowledge of BIS, IEC, and ISO standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop concepts for plates, frames, switches, and sockets.
• Create detailed designs of accessories in both 2D and 3D formats.
• Develop innovative concepts and perform re-engineering of existing and new products.
• Validate and test product samples per defined specifications and standards.
• Analyze test results and implement design modifications to meet functional requirements.
• Identify and implement design and process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Continuously work on improving existing product performance and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with QA and Manufacturing Engineering teams for product qualification.
• Support the ME team in developing and qualifying tools and fixtures.
• Train team members on product design, development processes, and 2D/3D design tools.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and reports.
• Timely development of new products from concept to production.
• Compliance with quality and industry standards.
• Continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing efficiency.
• Effective coordination with internal teams and external vendors.

Design & Development Engineer – Low Voltage Switchgear

Role Overview

The role focuses on designing and developing low voltage switchgear products, ensuring seamless transition from concept to production. The candidate will be responsible for product design, validation, testing, and continuous improvement, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

• Design and develop concepts for plates, frames, switches, and sockets.
• Create detailed designs of accessories in both 2D and 3D formats.
• Develop innovative concepts and perform re-engineering of existing and new products.

Testing & Validation

• Validate and test product samples as per defined specifications and standards.
• Analyze test results and implement design modifications to meet functional requirements.

Process Improvement

• Identify and implement design and process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Continuously work on improving existing product performance and manufacturability.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) and Manufacturing Engineering (ME) teams for product qualification.
• Support the ME team in developing and qualifying tools and fixtures.

Vendor & Production Support

• Ensure timely development and availability of product samples from vendors.
• Coordinate for material availability to support new product launches and production schedules.

Training & Documentation

• Train team members on product design, development processes, and 2D/3D design tools.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in:
• Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of experience in product design and development, preferably in electro-mechanical or switchgear industry.

Required Knowledge

• Knowledge of technical documentation and electronic product testing.
• Familiarity with standards such as BIS, IEC, and ISO.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.
