Job Title: Assistant Manager – Purchase

Department: Cable Purchase

Responsibilities

• Procurement & Material Planning
  • Sourcing & purchase: key raw materials such as copper, aluminum, PVC/XLPE raw materials for compounds, GI wire, copper tapes, armoring materials, insulation & sheathing compounds, and other consumables. Ensure timely delivery of materials as per production plans and BOM requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  • Vendor Management & Development Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors/suppliers for copper, aluminum, PVC/XLPE raw materials for compounds, GI wire, copper tapes, armoring materials, insulation & sheathing compounds.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts to achieve cost savings.
  • Conduct monthly supplier performance evaluations (quality, delivery, cost).
• Cost Control & Budgeting
  • Track market trends of metals (Copper, Aluminum, Polymers) and recommend purchase strategies.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives and value engineering.
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of the purchase budget.
• Purchase Order & Documentation
  • Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) as per approval matrix.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and audit standards.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and MIS reports.
• Quality & Compliance
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance for vendor approvals and material inspections.
  • Ensure materials meet IS / IEC / ASTM standards and customer specifications.
  • Handle non-conformance issues and supplier corrective actions.
• Coordination & Communication
  • Liaise with Production, PPC, Stores, Finance, and Quality departments.
  • Support import procurement activities, if applicable (documentation, follow-ups).
  • Resolve supplier issues related to delivery delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
