Job summary

Deconstruct is seeking an Assistant Manager – Procurement to lead sourcing of packaging materials for skincare products. You will manage domestic and international suppliers, drive cost optimization, and coordinate with cross-functional teams on new product launches and packaging innovations.

Ideal candidates have 4–6 years in skincare packaging procurement, strong vendor networks, and hands-on experience with mold development and import procurement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
• 4–6 years of procurement experience in skincare, cosmetics, personal care, or FMCG.
• Experience with a D2C brand is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of packaging materials, vendors, and supplier ecosystems.
• Hands-on mold development and packaging development experience.
• Experience with import procurement and international supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging materials for production and launches.
• Source and develop packaging vendors for bottles, tubes, jars, pumps, cartons and labels.
• Build and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers for quality and pricing.
• Coordinate with Product Development, Packaging Development, Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
• Collaborate with suppliers on mold development, tooling, sampling and packaging innovations.
• Manage import procurement including sourcing from China and coordinating freight/logistics.
• Drive strategic sourcing initiatives and cost optimization without compromising timelines.
• Identify, evaluate and onboard new vendors to strengthen the supplier base.
• Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, responsiveness and commercial terms.
• Support inventory planning to ensure optimum stock levels of packaging materials.
• Maintain procurement documentation, POs, contracts, pricing records and vendor database.
• Track procurement KPIs and contribute to continuous process improvements.

About the Role

The Assistant Manager – Procurement will be responsible for managing the procurement of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials for our product portfolio. The role requires strong expertise in packaging vendors, new product development, import procurement, supplier management, and cost optimization within the skincare, cosmetics, or personal care industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials, ensuring timely availability to support production and new product launches.
• Source and develop packaging vendors for bottles, tubes, jars, pumps, droppers, cartons, labels, mono cartons, shippers, and other packaging components.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
• Coordinate with Product Development, Packaging Development, Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing teams during new product development and commercialization.
• Work closely with suppliers on mold development, tooling, sampling, and packaging innovations for new product launches.
• Manage import procurement, including sourcing packaging materials from China and coordinating with freight and logistics partners.
• Drive strategic sourcing initiatives and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or timelines.
• Continuously identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors to strengthen the supplier base and mitigate supply risks.
• Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, responsiveness, and commercial effectiveness.
• Support inventory planning to ensure optimum stock levels of packaging materials.
• Ensure procurement documentation, purchase orders, contracts, pricing records, and the vendor database are accurately maintained.
• Track procurement KPIs and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Key Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
• Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) graduates will be preferred.
• 4–6 years of procurement experience in the Skincare, Cosmetics, Personal Care, or FMCG industry.
• Prior experience working with a D2C brand is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of packaging materials, packaging vendors, and supplier ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience in mold development and packaging development projects.
• Experience handling import procurement and international supplier management.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, vendor development, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization.
• Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
