Job summary

Selective Global Search in Mumbai is seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead vendor development for molded/formed parts, finalize procurement strategies, and negotiate price and terms with plastic raw material and component vendors.

You will identify cost reduction opportunities, assess supplier capabilities, develop tools and MIS for market scenarios, mitigate supply risks, drive supplier qualification, and collaborate with engineering to optimize processes and cost leadership

Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge of various resin grades and rubber grades used for components moulding.
• Exposure to moulding types, machines, tools and manufacturing operations used.
• Optimization of process parameters MHR, CT, RM Grades, tooling and tonnage.
• Optimization of mould flow and layout to minimize scrap.
• Knowledge of Make versus Buy decisions and commodity price trends.
• Expertise in commercial negotiations for parts and tooling cost.
• Knowledge of GST/customs duty and logistics cost estimation (import/local).
• Expertise in VA/VE processes and cost reduction levers.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and 8D for supplier development.
• Risk mitigation for single sourced and tooled-up items.
• Capacity planning of individual suppliers.
• SOB based on alternate sourcing and should costing.

Responsibilities

• To carry out vendor development activities related to molded/formed parts
• Finalization of the procurement strategy / SOB for plastic raw material and part vendors
• Finalization of price and other commercial terms of the contracts with plastic raw material / parts vendors
• Identify cost reduction & VA/VE projects related to the sheet metal parts & implement the same
• Visit suppliers to assess new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity and fulfillment ensuring suppliers are able to meet requirements for performance
• Assist in the tool development for plastic parts
• Release the monthly MIS for the plastic market scenario to assist in making the strategic decisions related to the long term and short term procurement strategies
• Prepare and implement effective risk mitigation plan in terms of supply constraints for plastic parts
• Drive plastic parts supplier selection through robust qualification processes
• Benchmark the best practices followed in industry for plastic parts sourcing and implement the same .
• Develop positive relationships and work closely with procurement team to manage, implement and track supplier/engineering, design changes, capacity studies and New Product Introductions, and transfers
• Responsible for leading the solution for supplier component concerns, driving Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), supplier component development and approval and supplier cost improvements
• Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
• Timely selection of moulder for involvement from MFA stage till DFM and MP stage along with tooling and design team to optimize process parameters to attain product cost leadership

• Technical Knowledge of various resin grades and rubber grades used for components moulding (injection, pressure, vacuum form, etc)
• Adequate exposure to type of moulding, machines, tools and manufacturing operations used
• Optimization of process parameters MHR, CT, RM Grades, type of tool, operations, clamping and actual tonnage, sub assembly processes
• Optimization of mould flow, layout to avoid any surplus or scrap generation
• Process controls and rejection level monitoring
• Make versus Buy decision
• Expertise in commodity price trend analysis
• Expertise in commercial negotiations for parts and tooling cost
• Knowledge of GST/customs duty/ logistics cost estimation ( import /local)
• Expertise in VA/VE process &various cost reduction levers widely used in industry
• Knowledge of new parts development process , APQP, PPAP, 8D required
• Risk mitigation of single sourced and tooled up items
