Job summary

Harsco Corporation is seeking an Assistant Manager – Operations & Maintenance (India) to manage on-site activities for track construction, rail grinding projects, and related operations. The role spans across multiple locations pan-India, ensuring timely execution, safety, and quality.

The incumbent will supervise track machine deployment, coordinate with stakeholders, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, while leading site teams and ensuring contractual compliance with customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical preferred).
• 8–10 years of experience in Railway & Metro industries' projects/operations.
• Familiarity with mechanical systems like gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic systems, and electrical panels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and site team leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor the operation, deployment, and maintenance of track machines at the site.
• Ensure all site activities comply with project plans, engineering standards, and safety procedures.
• Read and understand contractual obligations clearly. Prepare strong correspondence with customers on contractual matters relating to O&M.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders, contractors, and vendors for timely execution of work.
• Maintain and organize all project documentation including drawings, reports, approvals, and technical correspondences.
• Ensure preventive and scheduled maintenance of machines is carried out as per guidelines, with proper records maintained.
• Identify, assess, and resolve on-site technical issues promptly in coordination with engineering teams.
• Monitor site safety compliance and support implementation of safety protocols.
• Track and report project progress through regular updates and progress reports to management.
• Ensure compliance with railway industry protocols and procedures at all project stages.
• Travel to various project sites as required for supervision, audits, and support

Job Description

This key rolewill be responsible to manage and supervise the on-site activities related to machines working to perform railway track construction, and rail grinding projects and operations—particularly involving track machines ensuring timely execution, technical compliance, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role will be based across multiple machine work locations pan-India.

Team Management

• Supervise technicians, operators, and contract manpower in shifts.
• Provide technical guidance and training to site staff.
• Ensure manpower allocation as per contract and workload.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on O&M activities, breakdown root-cause analysis, and performance KPIs, cost-tracking.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Projects, SCM, Quality, and Safety.
