Job summary

Godrej Industries Group (GIG) seeks an experienced MEP Project Manager to lead the on-site execution of MEP services for a large infrastructure project. You will coordinate with PMCs and contractors to ensure timely delivery, maintain quality, and manage budgets.

The role requires a strong background in electrical/MEP systems, construction management, and proficiency in project scheduling tools. This position is based on-site and offers extensive stakeholder collaboration and safety governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant project handling experience.
  • BE Mech/Electrical Engg with 5–8 years in construction/MEP projects.
  • Experience in coordinating consultants and contractors with PMCs is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Incumbent to manage MEP implementation in a project ensuring timeliness and quality.
  • Track, monitor and coordinate on-site activities with PMCs/MEP contractors.
  • Drive adherence to project plans, design, quality norms and safety initiatives.

The incumbent is responsible for managing implementation of MEP services in a project to ensure timeliness and quality of MEP activities.

This is done through:

  • tracking, monitoring and coordinating on-site activities for projects with Project Management Consultants/ MEP contractors
  • driving adherence to the project plans, product design and quality norms
  • timely resolution of issues
  • implementation of all quality and safety initiatives at given location

Role Responsibilities Responsibility Area Key Activities Indicative Performance Measures Financial / Strategy 1. Project Budget Tracking Tracks spends against allocated project budget Develops a cost effective plan for the MEP part of infrastructure [Quality services within budgets] Revises costs as per the requirements through a joint discussion with AVP Projects & GM Design, sends to HO for final sign off Optimization of construction cost 2. Bills and Payments Certifies the bills of consultants Follows up with Contacts and Accounts to ensure that the payments to consultants are made in a timely manner Timely payments to consultants Operational 1. Selection of Consultants/ vendors Prepares Requests for Proposals for services that need to be outsourced locally such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical, escalators etc Identifies suitable vendors for various contracts Conducts a comparative analysis of shortlisted vendors and makes recommendations Provides technical/work scope inputs to Contractors to prepare the contract Follows up with Contractors for sign off on the agreement / Letter of Intent (LOI)/work order Timely selection of consultants 2. Project Planning Provides inputs on Services design (MEP) to Design team at concept design stage Evaluates drawings submitted by consultants to ensure drawings are as per design brief and in compliance with necessary statutory requirements for MEP works Prepares detailed project plan for the project basis the • Timeliness • Comprehensiveness of planning Responsibility Area Key Activities Indicative Performance Measures macro plan prepared by regional head in coordination with the project management consultants 3. Coordination with Project Management Consultants/ Contractors • Conducts weekly review meetings with Contractors / Project Management consultants on work progress, construction schedule, design or quality issues • Identifies issues hampering project progress • Resolves technical differences of opinion (or deviations) between consultants and contractors, if any Project activities as per schedule 4. Material Procurement • Follows up with the project management consultant on schedule of materials required • Coordinates with Contracts for fulfillment of material requirements for first class items • Coordinates with Design and Regional Head on selection of fittings (if required) Timely availability of material 5. Project Tracking • Tracks and monitors progress of MEP activities with respect to final drawings, design, construction schedule and budget • Monitor installation ,Commissioning, Testing , performance trials of equipment such as HVAC , Escalators • Monitors quality of work by conducting inspections on a regular basis and scrutinizing reports from PMC consultants • Adherence to design Adherence to planned schedule • Adherence to Quality standards • Adherence to safety standards and norms 6. MIS & Reporting • Prepares monthly report on Project updates • Provides project updates to Accounts and Sales team for generation of customer bills Timeliness and accuracy of reports 7. Liaison with statutory bodies Liaisons with Local statutory bodies for power, switches water supply, etc. for approvals for the GGC townships Process 1. Process Adherence • Complies with company defined guidelines and processes • Adheres to project timelines % Process compliance 2. Position Specifications (Know-How, Skills and Knowledge for this position) Current Incumbent’s Education Qualification & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with 10.2 years of experience in handling projects Threshold Education Qualification & Experience BE Mech/Electrical Engg 5-8 years of experience in construction industry as MEP project manager. Experience in managing consultants and contractors in order to complete goals, objectives and schedules. Functional/ Technical competencies • Understanding of the real estate development business • Knowledge of MEP services such as Electrical equipment, fire fighting system, plumbing, escalatora etc • Construction management • Project Management • Knowledge of latest technologies and materials related to MEP MS Project
