Job summary

Vaighai Chemical Industries Limited in Karaikal invites a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance across our chemical plant. You will monitor equipment such as centrifuges, dryers, pumps, and valves, troubleshoot failures, and coordinate installation, commissioning, and overhauls.

The role requires 3–5 years' mechanical maintenance experience in chemical/process manufacturing, a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, and strong planning

Qualifications

• B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in chemical/process manufacturing.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience in maintenance planning and team handling.
• Knowledge of industrial safety and maintenance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
• Monitor and maintain plant equipment including centrifuge, dryer, valves, pumps.
• Troubleshoot failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate installation, commissioning, overhaul, and repair.
• Ensure equipment integrity and safe maintenance practices.
• Prepare maintenance schedules, breakdown reports, and history records.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with purchasing.
• Coordinate with Production, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams.
• Supervise technicians, contractors, and maintenance staff.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.

2. Monitor and maintain chemical plant equipment like Centrifuge, dryer, pulverizer, filter press, heat exchanger compressor, pumps, valves, gear box and other plant equipment's

3. Troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

4. Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning, overhauling, and repair activities.

5. Ensure equipment integrity and safe maintenance practices in the chemical manufacturing plant.

6. Prepare maintenance schedules, breakdown reports, and equipment history records.

7. Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with purchase and stores departments.

8. Coordinate with Production, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.

9. Supervise technicians, contractors, and maintenance personnel.

10. Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and applicable statutory requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

3 -5 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a chemical or process manufacturing industry.

Required Skills

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Experience in maintenance planning and team handling.
