Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience, preferably in chicken/poultry processing, meat processing, food processing, FMCG manufacturing, or other high-throughput manufacturing environments.
  • Prior experience in CAPEX/project execution combined with Industrial Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to food-processing equipment, production lines, refrigeration/utilities, packaging, material handling, and automation would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, productivity improvement, and plant layouts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead greenfield, brownfield, expansion, modernization, and productivity improvement projects across chicken/food processing facilities.
  • Develop project concepts, scope, layouts, technical specifications, budgets, timelines, and implementation plans.
  • Prepare CAPEX proposals, project feasibility assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and management presentations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, OEMs, contractors, consultants, and vendors from project conceptualization through commissioning.
  • Monitor project cost, schedule, quality, safety, and technical performance.
  • Drive installation, commissioning, stabilization, and handover of new equipment and production lines.
  • Maintain project trackers and proactively highlight risks, delays, cost overruns, and mitigation plans.

Job description

Role Purpose

The Projects Lead & Industrial Engineer will be responsible for driving CAPEX projects, plant expansion, process improvement, capacity enhancement, and industrial engineering initiatives across the organizations chicken/food processing operations.

Based at the Corporate Office in Mumbai, the incumbent will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Food Safety, Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, and external vendors/consultants. The role requires a strong combination of project management, engineering design, data analysis, shop-floor problem solving, and hands‑on execution.

The individual should be comfortable moving between corporate-level planning and detailed on-site execution, with extensive travel to manufacturing and processing locations.


Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management & CAPEX
  1. Lead greenfield, brownfield, expansion, modernization, and productivity improvement projects across chicken/food processing facilities.
  2. Develop project concepts, scope, layouts, technical specifications, budgets, timelines, and implementation plans.
  3. Prepare CAPEX proposals, project feasibility assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and management presentations.
  4. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, OEMs, contractors, consultants, and vendors from project conceptualization through commissioning.
  5. Monitor project cost, schedule, quality, safety, and technical performance.
  6. Drive installation, commissioning, stabilization, and handover of new equipment and production lines.
  7. Maintain project trackers and proactively highlight risks, delays, cost overruns, and mitigation plans.
2. Industrial Engineering & Productivity
  1. Conduct detailed time and motion studies, manpower studies, line‑balancing exercises, and capacity assessments.
  2. Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improving throughput, labour productivity, equipment utilization, and process efficiency.
  3. Develop optimal manpower deployment and production line configurations.
  4. Establish and track productivity norms and operational benchmarks across plants.
  5. Analyse production data to identify losses, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
  6. Support Operations teams in implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives, including initiatives on sustainability.
  7. Develop business cases for automation and mechanization based on productivity, quality, safety, and ROI.
3. Plant Layout & Engineering Design
  1. Develop and modify 2D plant, equipment, utility, and process layouts using AutoCAD.
  2. Optimize layouts considering product flow, people movement, material movement, hygiene zoning, utilities, maintenance accessibility, and future expansion.
  3. Support equipment selection, line configuration, and plant infrastructure planning.
  4. Review vendor drawings, equipment GA drawings, technical specifications, and engineering proposals.
  5. Work with relevant teams to ensure layouts and installations comply with food safety, hygiene, EHS, and operational requirements.
4. Data Analytics & Decision Support
  1. Be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel for project and operational analysis.
  2. Develop robust Excel-based models for capacity planning, manpower optimization, project costing, ROI/payback calculations, productivity analysis, and scenario evaluation.
  3. Build dashboards and MIS for tracking project progress, CAPEX utilization, productivity, capacities, and key operational metrics.
  4. Convert complex shop‑floor and engineering data into clear recommendations for senior management.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  1. Identify and evaluate equipment manufacturers, technology providers, engineering consultants, and contractors.
  2. Participate in technical discussions, techno‑commercial evaluations, vendor negotiations, and finalization.
  3. Coordinate extensively with Plant Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Quality, EHS, Food Safety, and Supply Chain teams.
  4. Act as a bridge between the Corporate Office and manufacturing locations for projects and industrial engineering initiatives.

Candidate Profile
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Essential Technical Skills

  2. Microsoft Excel – Advanced proficiency, including complex formulas, PivotTables, data analysis, scenario modelling, charts, and dashboards.
  3. Strong project management and project-tracking capabilities.
  4. Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  5. Knowledge of time & motion studies, line balancing, capacity calculations, manpower optimization, OEE/productivity analysis, and process improvement methodologies.
  6. Working knowledge of PowerPoint and other MS Office applications.
  7. Exposure to Power BI, MS Project, Primavera, or similar tools would be an added advantage.
