Job summary

Kennametal in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Fixture Design Engineer to lead hydraulic and manual clamping fixture designs for machining centers, including VMC, HMC and VTL. You will develop cradle and tombstone fixtures for automotive powertrain components and coordinate with manufacturing to produce detailed drawings and BOMs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in design of hydraulic fixtures for VMC/HMC/VTL.

Responsibilities

• Owns project design of hydraulic and manual clamping fixtures for machining centres (VMC, HMC, VTL).
• Understand hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and their usage.
• Design cradle/tombstone fixtures for engine/transmission components for two/three/four wheelers.
• Design fixtures for various machinery—tractor, truck, construction equipment, power/O&G sectors.
• Prepare manufacturing, assembly, and casting drawings; create BOMs.

Key Responsibilities

• Project owner. - Working with minimum supervision for design of Hydraulic and Manual Clamping fixtures for Machining centres. - VMC, HMC & VTL
• Understanding of Hydraulic & Pneumatic circuits & their usage.
• Design of Cradle type, Tombstone type fixtures for 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler engine / Transmission, Braking components.
• Design of Fixtures for Tractor, Truck, Construction equipment machinery components
• Design of Fixtures for Power sector, Oil & Gas
• Knowledge of GD&T
• Preparing manufacturing drawings of parts.
• Prepare BOM, Assembly drawings.
• Prepare casting drawings.
• Sound knowledge of Fixture design fundamentals.
• Select various bought out parts with necessary calculation.
• Design of Hydraulic, coolant & pneumatic circuits.
• Good at communication.
• Knowledge of cutting tools and make tooling layouts.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, process engineering
• Exposure to various machine tools, automation, robots, gantry loading
• Good attitude of working
• Travel to customer, supplier place for technical discussion & DAP

Work Experience

• Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in Design of Hydraulic Fixtures for VMC / HMC & VTL
