Job summary

Hyatt Centric Whitefield Bangalore is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to oversee repair, maintenance and engineering operations in a busy hotel environment. You will ensure compliance with standards, manage tools and parts, and coordinate with the Chief Engineer for corrective actions.

The role requires a Diploma or Graduation in engineering or a related field, with preference for hotel facilities maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the repair, maintenance and engineering operations according to the departmental standards.
• Reads and assesses the utility and equipment log reports and, if necessary, takes corrective action in consultation with the Chief Engineer.
• Keeps a close inventory of engineering stores and maintains required stock of essential parts to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitors fuel consumption patterns and stock levels and takes corrective measures in consultation with the Chief Engineer.
• Reviews daily logs of briefings and de-briefings by Team leaders and advises accordingly.
• Creates a monthly plan for training in coordination with the training manager.
• Modifies installations to minimise waste of material and provide access for future maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with local regulations and codes; maintains cleanliness of work areas.
• Performs repairs and maintenance work to guest rooms, public and service areas to keep the hotel well maintained.
• Regularly inspects the building with focus on life safety features and operating equipment, including hard-to-reach areas.
• Executes effective management of preventive maintenance programmes.
• Ensures energy conservation measures are in place across operations.
• Ensures fire, life and safety systems are operational.
• Contributes to service recovery in response to guest feedback.
• Reviews and approves invoices and purchase requests involving technical services and installations.

• Properly handles and maintains all power tools.
• Assists other tradespersons or technicians when requested by superiors.
• Reads and assess the utility and equipment log reports and if found necessary takes appropriate corrective action in consultation with Chief Engineer.
• Keeps a close inventory of engineering stores and maintains required inventory of essential parts to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitors closely the fuel consumption pattern and stock levels and takes corrective measures in consultation with Chief Engineer.
• On a daily basis goes through logs of the briefings and de-briefings made by Team leaders and advices accordingly.
• Creates a monthly plan for training in coordination with training manager.
• Modifies installations to minimise waste of material and provide access for future maintenance.
• Avoids unsightly hazards and complies with all local regulations and codes.
• Ensures cleanliness of all work areas and protects the surroundings when executing duties.
• Performs repairs and maintenance work to all guest rooms, public and service areas of the hotel to ensure they are well maintained.
• Regularly inspects the entire building with particular attention on defective or deficient life safety features and to observe closely the condition of all operating equipment. Specific attention must be placed on areas of difficult access.
• Executes Effective Management of Preventive Maintenance Programme.
• Ensures effective energy conservation measures in areas of operations.
• Ensures fire, life and safety systems are operational.
• Ensures effective service recovery pertaining to guests’ feedback.
• Reviews and approves all invoices and Purchase Requests involving Technical Services and installations, machinery, parts and audio-visual equipment etc.
• Assists in ensuring that the property, its systems and the operational procedures comply with all the prevailing local and national codes, notifying the Chief Engineer of areas of non-compliance, if any.
• Works closely with other Department Heads in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests.
• Makes sure that Engineering employees work in a supportive and flexible manner with other departments.
