Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking an Asst. Manager - EHS in Sanand, India to drive EHS frameworks and sustainability projects. The role focuses on building a proactive EHS culture with strong leadership and technical support for management.

You will ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and related regulations, develop training programs, and manage waste programs while driving continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Science (required).
  • Diploma in Industrial Safety from RLI/CLI/MGLI Ahmedabad.
  • 10–12 years of experience in engineering, automobile or heavy industries.
  • Strong leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and EMS/Health & Safety MS.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure OSHA, lockout/tagout, PPE, ergonomics and EPA compliance for the plant.
  • Implement programs meeting local, state, national regulatory requirements; train employees and foster behavioural safety.
  • Develop and run comprehensive training programs aligned with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Maintain facility management plans for hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.
  • Maintain environmental reports, permits and records; analyze incidents and drive corrective actions.
  • Audit treatment, storage, disposal and recycling facilities handling wastes.
  • Drive sustainability projects (energy conservation, waste reduction, resource optimization).
  • Conduct root cause analysis of accidents and injuries; implement corrective actions.
  • Organize facility teams around safety; perform safety inspections and layered audits.
  • Provide technical safety, health, fire and environmental expertise for manufacturing and licensing.

Job Summary

EHS professional is responsible for implementation of EHS standard frameworks, procedures & drive key sustainability project at workplace and establish proactive EHS culture in the organization. This role must demonstrate strong leadership quality, technical assistance to the management to achieve the EHS excellence in the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Assures compliance with OSHA, lockout/tagout, PPE, ergonomics, safety training and EPA compliance of plant
  • Successful implementation of programs to meet local, state, and national level legal compliance, including employee training and drive behavioural-based culture practices by closely working with leaders and employees to find and resolve risks.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program in accordance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations.
  • Establish and maintain facility specific management plans for hazardous waste and non-hazardous materials.
  • Maintain all environmental reports, permits and recordkeeping requirements to operate the facility and on-site equipment. Analyze systemic incident causes and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions. Evaluate first aids, near misses and recordable accidents to drive proactive programs to prevent future recordable accidents
  • Audit treatment, storage, disposal and recycling facilities that handle, process and dispose all operational wastes.
  • Drive key sustainability project in the organization (Energy conservation, waste reduction, resource optimization, water conservation)
  • Perform root cause analysis on accidents and injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent their reoccurrence.
  • Organize and manage facility teams with an emphasis on employee safety.
  • Conduct safety inspections & layered audit in the facility.
  • Provide technical expertise on safety, health, fire and environmental conditions and requirements for manufacturing, operation and maintenance and licensing / permit functions.
  • Prepare all EHS reports required by customers, company personnel, and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Serve on the Safety Committee and lead efforts where appropriate.
  • Develop Waste minimization and recycling strategies.
  • Oversight of hazardous waste disposal program.
  • Work with the Facilities group on waste reduction opportunities (materials, energy/utility consumption) and safe operating practices.
  • Regular review of EHS MDI for standard work implementation.

Requirements:
  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Science Graduate, Diploma in Industrial Safety from RLI (Regional Labour Institute) / CLI (Centre Labour Institute) / MGLI (Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute, Ahmedabad)
  • Experience: 10 to 12 years in engineering, automobile or heavy industries
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, Environment Management System, Health Safety Management System.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-informed decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Must be Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the Engineering industries, Automobile Industries, etc.
  • Statutory Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety regulations and IS & ISO standards.
