Job summary

Emerson in India is seeking an EHS Engineer/Senior Engineer at Mahindra World City, Chengalpattu to direct and manage Environmental, Health and Safety functions supporting manufacturing, sales and service operations. The role requires 5–8 years in EHS, English fluency, and a preferred ISO14001/OSHAS18001 auditor certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years to maximum 8 years of working experience required in EHS.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill.
• National certified safety engineer ISO14001 or OSHAS18001 internal auditor is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily factory walkthroughs to identify unsafe acts and conditions; train, motivate, and engage staff to report hazards; track corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
• Lead accident, incident, near-miss, and first-aid case investigations; perform root cause analysis and ensure timely reporting.
• Coordinate with site EHS teams to implement sustainability initiatives focused on zero emissions, energy conservation, waste reduction and environmental performance.
• Identify, propose, and implement EHS improvement projects related to employee safety, ergonomics, fatigue reduction, and health.
• Plan, coordinate, and support EHS awareness programs and events (Safety Day, Earth Month, Environment Day, health activities).
• Collaborate with Asia Pacific and Global EHS teams to review risk alerts and ensure effective deployment of corrective actions.
• Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems; coordinate audits, track non-conformities, and ensure timely closure.
• Ensure 100% compliance with all environmental, health, safety regulations and maintain records.
• Implement Emerson EHS policies across all factory operations.
• Prepare EHS metrics, reports, and presentations; participate in regional and global EHS review meetings.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve EHS objectives and improve operational safety performance.
• Conduct machine safety audits, pressure system and stored energy assessments; maintain EHS records, training matrices, risk assessments, audit findings, and compliance documentation.
• Lead HIRA, JSA, and Environmental Aspect & Impact Assessment activities; identify hazards and establish controls.
• Manage contractor EHS activities: onboarding, safety induction, competency verification, work permits, risk assessments, and site monitoring.
• Plan and conduct emergency mock drills and maintain emergency preparedness; ensure firefighting equipment is inspected and kept ready.

• Plan, coordinate, and support EHS awareness programs and events, including National Safety Day, Earth Month, Environment Day, Health & Wellness activities, and other corporate initiatives.
• Collaborate with Asia Pacific and Global EHS teams to review risk alerts, share best practices, and ensure effective horizontal deployment and implementation of corrective actions.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems; coordinate internal and external audits, track non-conformities, and ensure timely closure.
• Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable environmental, health, safety, and statutory regulations and maintain compliance records.
• Implement and sustain Emerson EHS policies, procedures, standards, and corporate requirements across all factory operations.

• Lead HIRA, JSA, and Environmental Aspect & Impact Assessment activities to identify hazards and risks, establish effective control measures, and ensure safe and environmentally responsible operations
• Manage contractor EHS activities by ensuring contractor onboarding, safety induction, competency verification, work permit compliance, risk assessments, worksite monitoring, and adherence to company and statutory EHS requirements.
• Plan and conduct emergency mock drills, maintain emergency preparedness, and ensure all firefighting equipment and systems are regularly inspected, tested, maintained, and kept in operational readiness.
