Job summary

Adani Wind Turbine Generators seeks a Main Mould Engineer to lead design, fabrication and maintenance of molds for wind turbine blades, ensuring precise geometry and reliable production.

You will coordinate mold specs, calibration, and integration with pre- and post‑molding teams, perform quality checks with CMM and laser scanners, and mentor junior staff. 7+ years in mold design in composites and a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and fabrication of main molds for wind turbine blades, utilizing CAD software and advanced molding techniques to ensure precise geometry and structural integrity.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules for molds, including periodic inspections, cleaning, and repairs to maintain mold accuracy and performance.
• Coordinate mold integration into blade production, optimizing mold processes and alignment for production efficiency and blade quality.
• Conduct thorough inspections of molds and finished blades using CMM and laser scanners to verify conformance to specs and quality.
• Operate and maintain mold fabrication equipment (CNC mills, injection molding systems) and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Enforce safety protocols for mold handling and ensure regulatory compliance with proper documentation.
• Document mold design, fabrication, maintenance, and performance data; prepare detailed reports on issues and resolutions.
• Provide training and support to junior engineers and production staff on mold design, operation, and maintenance.

Job Purpose

The Main Mould Engineer leads the design, fabrication, and maintenance of molds used in wind turbine blade production, ensuring precise geometry and structural integrity. This role involves optimizing mold processes, conducting quality inspections, and integrating new technologies to enhance mold performance. The Main Mould Engineer also oversees equipment operation, safety compliance, and process improvements to support efficient and reliable production.

Responsibilities

Mold Design and Fabrication

• Lead the design and fabrication of main molds for wind turbine blades, utilizing CAD software and advanced molding techniques to ensure precise geometry and structural integrity.
• Oversee the creation of detailed mold specifications, including core material configurations and mold surface treatments.

Mold Maintenance and Calibration

• Develop and implement maintenance schedules for molds, including periodic inspections, cleaning, and repairs to maintain mold accuracy and performance.
• Calibrate molds and related equipment to ensure consistent dimensional accuracy and optimal production results.

Process Integration and Optimization

• Ensure seamless integration of molds into the blade production process, coordinating with pre-fabrication and post-mold teams to achieve efficient workflows.
• Optimize mold processes, including alignment and resin flow, to enhance production efficiency and blade quality.

Quality Control and Assurance

• Conduct thorough inspections of molds and finished blades, using tools such as CMM and laser scanners to verify compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Address and resolve any quality issues related to mold performance, implementing corrective measures to prevent defects.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

• Operate and maintain mold fabrication and processing equipment, including CNC mills and injection molding systems, ensuring proper functionality and performance.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to prevent equipment downtime and ensure consistent production.

Safety and Compliance

• Implement and enforce safety protocols related to mold handling, including proper use of PPE and safe operation of heavy machinery.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, maintaining accurate documentation and facilitating regular audits.

Process Improvement and Innovation

• Identify opportunities for process improvements in mold design and production, including the integration of new technologies and materials to enhance mold performance and efficiency.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to incorporate best practices and innovative solutions.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain comprehensive records of mold design, fabrication, maintenance, and performance data.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on mold-related activities, including any issues encountered and resolutions implemented.

Training and Development

• Provide training and support to junior engineers and production staff on mold design, operation, and maintenance.
• Share expertise and knowledge to enhance team skills and overall production capabilities.
