Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Indian Payroll & Statutory Compliance Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable Indian labour laws and statutory requirements. The role involves payroll administration, statutory filings, employee data management, reconciliations, audits, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for employees.
- Verify attendance, leave, incentives, deductions, reimbursements, and salary inputs.
- Process new joiners, exits, salary revisions, promotions, and other payroll changes.
- Ensure accurate and timely salary processing and bank transfers.
- Prepare payroll reports, variance reports, and management MIS.
- Handle employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely compliance with PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly statutory returns within prescribed timelines.
- Coordinate PF/ESI registrations, employee additions/deletions, transfers, and related requirements.
- Support Form 16, TDS returns, tax declarations, and annual payroll-related activities.
- Maintain statutory records and documentation.
- Keep updated with changes in Indian labour and payroll regulations.
Reconciliation & Audit
- Perform payroll-to-GL and payroll-to-bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile PF, ESI, PT, LWF and TDS liabilities.
- Support internal, statutory, tax, and compliance audits.
- Identify and rectify payroll discrepancies and compliance gaps.
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Manage payroll activities related to onboarding and employee separation.
- Calculate full & final settlements, gratuity, leave encashment, notice pay, and other applicable dues.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll and statutory records.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of Indian Payroll & Statutory Compliance.
- Good understanding of PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS, Gratuity and Bonus.
- Experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of payroll calculations and statutory deductions.
- Good Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and formulas.
- Experience with payroll/HRMS software.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- High attention to detail and confidentiality.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of relevant experience in Indian payroll and statutory compliance.
Preferred Experience
- Experience handling payroll for 1000+ employees.
- Experience in multi-state payroll compliance.
- Experience with payroll audits and statutory inspections.
- Exposure to payroll automation/HRMS implementation will be an advantage.
