The role requires MSc in Microbiology/Biotechnology, strong leadership, excellent communication, and analytical skills to manage staff, SOPs, data accuracy and budgetary responsibilities.

Qualifications

• MSc in Microbiology or Biotechnology is required.
• Strong computer literacy and data handling.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise activities of a centralized laboratory.
• Ensure lab tests are conducted to the Company Standard.
• Maintain SOPs for techniques and methodologies used.
• Review results and escalate issues posing health risks to products and company.
• Lead and develop laboratory staff including performance management and training.
• Ensure training and competence assessment of employees to meet quality standards.
• Maintain hygiene, health and safety standards in the lab.
• Submit periodic reports and manage the laboratory budget for cost efficiencies.

Job Description Summary

The Assistant Lab Manager will be responsible to plan, manage and supervises the activities of a centralized laboratory and performs standard biological, microbiological and chemical tests in all areas of medical laboratory to assure their delivery in an accurate and timely fashion using proper safety precautions.

Job Description

Key Functions

• Ensuring the lab screening tests are conducted as to the Company Standard
• Responsible to have the SOPs for all the techniques and methodologies being handled
• Ensure that all data are maintained accurately and timely in accordance with Aviagen standards and process
• Review all results which fall out with limits and decide on further action where appropriate, including escalation of issues which pose a health risk to products and the Company
• Manage the laboratory staff in the aspects performance management, communication, training and development, etc,
• Ensure that existing and new employees are properly trained and their competence assessed on a regular basis to ensure that they operate to the quality standards required.
• Ensure the working practices in the laboratory meet appropriate standards of hygiene, health and safety.
• Periodical report submissions
• Plan and manage the laboratory budget, seeking opportunities for cost efficiencies and quality improvements where necessary
