Job summary

Aviagen is seeking an Assistant Lab Manager to plan and supervise a centralized laboratory, performing standard biological, microbiological and chemical tests to ensure accurate and timely delivery with proper safety precautions.

You will lead laboratory staff, enforce SOPs, maintain data quality, review results, and drive hygiene, health and safety, training, and budget planning.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. in Microbiology or Biotechnology.
• Basic computer operating skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good leadership abilities.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure lab screening tests are conducted to Company Standard.
• Maintain SOPs for all techniques and methodologies.
• Ensure data are accurately maintained per Aviagen standards.
• Review results outside limits and escalate as needed.
• Manage lab staff: performance, communication, training and development.
• Train new employees and assess their competency regularly.
• Ensure hygiene, health and safety practices in the lab.
• Submit periodic lab reports.
• Plan and manage the laboratory budget and seek cost efficiencies.

Job Description Summary

The Assistant Lab Manager will be responsible to plan, manage and supervises the activities of a centralized laboratory and performs standard biological, microbiological and chemical tests in all areas of medical laboratory to assure their delivery in an accurate and timely fashion using proper safety precautions.

Key Functions

• Ensuring the lab screening tests are conducted as to the Company Standard


• Responsible to have the SOPs for all the techniques and methodologies being handled


• Ensure that all data are maintained accurately and timely in accordance with Aviagen standards and process


• Review all results which fall out with limits and decide on further action where appropriate, including escalation of issues which pose a health risk to products and the Company


• Manage the laboratory staff in the aspects performance management, communication, training and development, etc.,


• Ensure that existing and new employees are properly trained and their competence assessed on a regular basis to ensure that they operate to the quality standards required.


• Ensure the working practices in the laboratory meet appropriate standards of hygiene, health and safety.


• Periodical report submissions


• Plan and manage the laboratory budget, seeking opportunities for cost efficiencies and quality improvements where necessary
