Job summary

Aviagen in India is seeking an Assistant Lab Manager to plan, manage and supervise activities of a centralized laboratory. You will perform standard biological, microbiological and chemical tests to ensure accurate and timely delivery while following safety procedures.

The role requires MSc in Microbiology/Biotechnology, strong leadership and analytical skills, and excellent communication. You will oversee budget, supervise staff, ensure SOPs, and maintain data integrity in line with company

Qualifications

• MSc in Microbiology or Biotechnology required.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Proficient in laboratory data handling and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise activities of a centralized laboratory.
• Perform standard biological, microbiological and chemical tests.
• Maintain data accuracy and timeliness per Aviagen standards.
• Review results and escalate issues affecting product safety.
• Lead laboratory staff, training, performance management and development.
• Ensure SOPs exist and training/compliance is maintained.
• Ensure hygiene, health and safety in the lab and periodic reporting.
• Plan and manage the laboratory budget and seek cost improvements.

Job Description Summary:

The Assistant Lab Manager will be responsible to plan, manage and supervises the activities of a centralized laboratory and performs standard biological, microbiological and chemical tests in all areas of medical laboratory to assure their delivery in an accurate and timely fashion using proper safety precautions.

Key Functions:

• Ensuring the lab screening tests are conducted as to the Company Standard
• Responsible to have the SOPs for all the techniques and methodologies being handled
• Ensure that all data are maintained accurately and timely in accordance with Aviagen standards and process
• Review all results which fall out with limits and decide on further action where appropriate, including escalation of issues which pose a health risk to products and the Company
• Manage the laboratory staff in the aspects performance management, communication, training and development, etc.,
• Ensure that existing and new employees are properly trained and their competence assessed on a regular basis to ensure that they operate to the quality standards required.
• Ensure the working practices in the laboratory meet appropriate standards of hygiene, health and safety.
• Periodical report submissions
• Plan and manage the laboratory budget, seeking opportunities for cost efficiencies and quality improvements where necessary
