Job summary

Autoliv India seeks an experienced Assistant General Manager - Direct Purchase to lead strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cost optimization for automotive programs. You will manage India-based supplier development, localization, and cross-functional program execution, ensuring ASPP compliance and robust cost data.

You will mentor a procurement team, drive large-scale savings, and support launches of new Seat Belts, Airbags, and Steering Wheels while coordinating with Engineering,

Qualifications

• 22–25+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
• Mandatory experience within the Automotive Industry.
• Experience in multinational and matrix organizations preferred.
• Strong expertise in supplier management and strategic sourcing.

Responsibilities

• Execute global purchasing strategies while ensuring process compliance.
• Develop and strengthen the supplier base in India in line with segment strategies.
• Lead and support supplier negotiations and annual cost-saving initiatives.
• Drive successful launches of new projects related to Seat Belts, Airbags, and Steering Wheels.
• Manage supplier capacity planning and supply chain risk mitigation.
• Lead change management and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) activities.
• Ensure contribution margin targets are achieved for all new projects.
• Support localization initiatives and supplier development programs.
• Monitor project timelines and ensure timely execution.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management.
• Ensure compliance with ASPP requirements and maintain accurate cost data in ICAN.
• Conduct sourcing board meetings and support sourcing decisions for new developments.
• Manage supplier-related quality, delivery, and commercial issues.
• Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing purchasing team.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced and strategic procurement leader to join our team as Assistant General Manager - Direct Purchase. This role will be responsible for driving purchasing excellence, supplier development, cost optimization, localization initiatives, and successful execution of new product launches within a dynamic automotive manufacturing environment.

The position involves managing an annual spend exceeding ₹2,000 Crores, leading a team of procurement professionals, and collaborating with cross-functional and global stakeholders to ensure business objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Required Experience & Expertise

Experience

• 22-25+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.
• Mandatory experience within the Automotive Industry.
• Experience in multinational and matrix organizations preferred.
• Strong expertise in supplier management and strategic sourcing.

Technical Skills

• Tooling and component cost estimation.
• Strong knowledge of Plastics, Stamping, Metals, and Die Castings.
• Supplier market research and technology assessment.

• Knowledge of supplier development and localization projects.
