Job summary

Polmon Instruments in Hyderabad, India, seeks an Assistant General Manager R&D to lead architecture, design, development, testing and production support of embedded electronic products for process measurement, control and data-logging applications. You will manage multidisciplinary hardware and software teams, ensure projects meet technical, quality, compliance and schedule requirements.

Qualifications

• Interact with customers for discussions and requirement clarification.
• Improve R&D workflows, documentation and project execution.
• Maintain design history, test reports and records.
• Lead internal technical training and competency development.
• Participate in recruitment and performance reviews for team members.
• Act on behalf of General Manager R&D when delegated.

Role Summary:

The Assistant General Manager R&D is responsible for leading the architecture, design, development, testing, validation and production support of embedded electronic products used in process measurement, control and data-logging applications. The role manages multidisciplinary hardware and software teams and ensures projects are completed according to approved technical, quality, compliance and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead assigned product-development projects from concept through production release.
• Manage and mentor hardware, embedded-software and testing engineers.
• Prepare project plans, technical specifications, resource requirements and development schedules.
• Review project progress, identify bottlenecks and drive timely resolution.
• Define and review product architecture, schematics, PCB layouts and component selections.
• Provide technical guidance for analog, digital, power and mixed-signal electronic design.
• Guide embedded-software development, integration, debugging and validation.
• Coordinate prototype development, design verification, validation and reliability testing.
• Ensure products meet EMI/EMC, electrical safety and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, root-cause analysis and corrective-action reviews.
• Support Manufacturing and Quality during pilot production and product transfer.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain for component selection, alternate development and obsolescence management.
• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to understand market and customer requirements.
• Interact with customers for technical discussions, requirement clarification and expectation management.
• Improve R&D workflows, documentation standards and project-execution practices.
• Maintain design history, test reports, revisions and technical records.
• Conduct internal technical-training and competency-development programs.
• Support recruitment, performance reviews and development planning for team members.
• Act on behalf of the General Manager R&D when delegated.

Skills Required

• Strong experience in embedded electronic-product architecture and development.
• Hands-on knowledge of analog, digital, power and mixed-signal electronics.
• Strong understanding of Embedded C and firmware-development practices.
• Experience with TI microcontrollers/processors, STM32 and Silicon Labs 8051.
• Proficiency in ORCAD, Allegro and PADS; Altium knowledge is preferred.
• Knowledge of schematic design, PCB layout and component selection.
• Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC design and compliance testing.
• Experience in prototyping, validation, debugging and production support.
• Practical knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators and logic analyzers.
• Knowledge of reliability testing, failure analysis and corrective actions.
• Strong project-planning, technical-review and risk-management capability.
• Experience in customer communication and cross-functional coordination.
