Job summary

Smile Foundation in Delhi seeks an experienced and dynamic senior professional to lead Vocational Education and Scholarships programs. As the Assistant General Manager, you will drive multiple projects to support girls through scholarships and access to quality vocational training, empowering their employability and social contribution.

You will design scaling strategies, co-pitch with donors, and oversee program management and budgets, ensuring delivery against MOUs and donor requirements

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in education, social work, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of proven experience managing large-scale projects in vocational education, scholarships, or skill development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing and managing partnerships with educational institutions, NGOs, and government bodies.
  • Experience leading a multi-cultural team of 5+ direct reporters.
  • Willingness to travel PAN India.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of strategic partnerships with corporate, institutional donors, ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
  • Oversee programme delivery, annual plans, budgets, and donor reporting per MOUs.
  • Drive evaluation, transparency, and accountability through MIS and project management systems.
  • Design scaling strategies and co-pitch with donors for program expansion.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project activities across multiple states.

About Smile Foundation

Smile Foundation works for the welfare of underprivileged children and their families through intensive programs focused on education, healthcare, skilling and women empowerment and Empowering Grassroots. Started in 2002 by a group of young corporate professionals, today Smile has evolved into a national level development organization impacting lives of over 1.5 million underprivileged children and their families with project presence in 25 states across India, 10 offices in strategic locations and over 650 employees, besides countless volunteers, well- wishers and supporters.

Currently SF has been implementing projects worth Rs 80 Crore across India directly or with the help of grassroot organizations, primarily CSR funded projects of varied scale both in urban slums and rural areas including aspirational districts in thematic areas mentioned above. The wealth of knowledge emanated from the same is immense, however the same is grouped in systematic manner which can be used for pitching for large projects of long term in nature leading to data driven knowledge products which can be further used in creating large scale impact.

Higher Education: This programme is in school intervention and ensures improvement in quality of provision of vocational skills in schools (15-19 years). The programme aims to capacitate students to the extent that they can make informed choices in life and career, channelize aspirations, become market ready in regards to employability skills and seeding entrepreneurship among them. At present it is in 300 schools

in Rajasthan state, and we aspire its expansion in other states too. Scholarships programme: The Scholarship programme of the Foundation is a merit-based program that supports deserving girls from underserved communities. The scholarship supports girls to complete school education, vocational courses and engineering courses. The scholarship support includes financial support, education accessories and life skills training.

Summary of Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to lead our organization's Vocational Education and Scholarships program. As the Assistant General Manager of Vocational Education and Scholarships, you will be responsible for implementing multiple projects to support girls through scholarships in accessing quality vocational education to deserving girls, empowering them to enhance their employability and contribute positively to society. You would be also responsible for designing new strategies for scaling and actively co-pitching with donors along with a resources team for the expansion of the program. This position would be responsible for overall programme management and expansion of the program. At present the program has projects in 7 states and will expand to other states as well. You will play a key role in shaping the future of the program and creating a meaningful impact on the lives of beneficiaries.

Job Description

Product review, design and innovation in line with market and regulatory contexts, aligned to the Smile Foundation vision and mission.

Annual Strategic planning and review against organizational vision and goals.

Lead development of strategic partnerships with corporate and institutional donors, ultra-high net worth individuals.

Conceptualize and effect partnerships with relevant government, UN, private sector and NGO and other relevant stakeholders.

Create one place solution on scholarship portal for updated information and links for various scholarships, schemes, opportunities for queries relevant for higher education and domain skills

Programme Delivery and Implementation

Drive the development, review and monitoring of annual operational plans across all projects.

Lead the programme management ensuring the team plans, deliver and monitor projects to the highest standards, addresses risks and challenges and maximizes synergies and opportunities for impact and increased value for money.

Develop a culture of transparent performance monitoring, learning, and success recognition.

Responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of annual work plans and budgets.

Ensure effective allocation of responsibilities within the project team so that the team functions in an effective and efficient manner.

Ensure project activities and deliverables comply with the MOU with the donor organizations and are delivered in a timely manner.

Maximizes the use of technology applications and solutions to manage projects.

Stakeholders, Partners and Donor Management

Establish & strengthen linkages with concerned Govt. Departments, Colleges and other stakeholders.

Identify credible Resource organizations and Partners for project activities.

Nurturing Donors by ensuring that the committed deliverables are met.

Engage donors in the respective projects and influence them for expansion.

Ensure timely and high standard of donor reporting as per required formats project Proposals, International Grant Applications and Renewals (PSU/Corporate).

Explore and study the viability and feasibility of the new proposal leads and develop the concept note basis the desk research.

Conceptualize the project application/detailed project proposal and provide clarification to the queries to facilitate signing of MoU.

Undertakes complete responsibility of drafting renewal proposals & budgets.

Ensure timely submission and necessary follow-ups.

Team & Capacity Building

Provide leadership and support to the team to perform at the next level.

Monitor team performance and identify capacity building opportunities amongst the teams for quality implementation of interventions.

Technical support for improving Project Management System, project MIS and monitoring systems, within the mandate of the projects, for improving the transparency and accountability.

Others

Explore the opportunity of national/international awards and recognition for the organization and prepare the application in the prescribed format for timely submission.

Representing Smile Foundation at various forums.

Skills, Qualifications & Experiences

Master’s degree in education, Social Work, Business Administration, or a related field.

10-15 years of proven experience in managing large scale projects, preferably in the field of vocational education, scholarships, or skill development. Expertise in drafting proposals, data analysis, donor reporting activities with basic financial acumen.

Min 5 years of experience developing and managing partnerships with educational institutions, NGOs, and government bodies.

Should have experience handling a multi-cultural team of at least 5+ direct reporters.

Understanding of the Indian education system, vocational training landscape, and scholarship programs will be a plus.

Should be open to travel across PAN India.
