Job summary

GE Aerospace Pune MMF seeks an experienced Machinist/ Programmer to run VMC operations, program CNC parts, set up tooling, and ensure quality. The role emphasizes safe, efficient production while collaborating with the manufacturing team to meet daily output targets.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in machining, knowledge of G-code/M-code, and familiarity with CAD/CAM software, metrology, and continuous improvement initiatives. Relocation assistance is provided.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering required.
  • 4+ years in manufacturing with machining exposure.
  • Basic CNC programming knowledge (G-code/M-code) and CAD/CAM familiarity.
  • Knowledge of metrology and precision instruments like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute and monitor machining operations including CNC programming and fixture design.
  • Setup, calibration, and maintenance of lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and scrap.
  • Contribute to process improvements in machining techniques, tooling and automation.
  • Perform quality inspections with precision instruments to ensure adherence to specs.

Job Description Summary Responsible for Machining processes on VMC(Fanuc Control). A key element of this position will be having knowledge on Programming, machining & execution of parts independently as per shift outcome. Job Description Site Overview:

Our Multi-modal Manufacturing Facility (MMF) in Pune plays a crucial role in manufacturing key aerospace components, supporting not only India’s defense and commercial sectors but also global aviation supply chains. Our relationships with Indian suppliers, combined with our world-class local facilities and global reach, continue to shape India’s aerospace ecosystem.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of machining operations, including CNC programming, tool selection, and fixture design.
  • Support the setup, calibration, and maintenance of various machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and specialized CNC machinery.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, including the development and implementation of new machining techniques, tooling, and automation solutions.
  • Conduct quality inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specifications and design requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of machining parameters, production data, and quality control results.
  • Contribute to the creation and revision of manufacturing work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols related to machining.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support cost reduction efforts through material optimization, process efficiency, and waste reduction in machining operations.
The Ideal Candidate:

Candidate with min 4+ years of experience in w CNC programming

Required Qualification:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with exposure to machining processes.
  • Basic understanding of CNC programming (G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software.
  • Familiarity with various machining techniques (turning, milling, drilling, grinding, etc.) and associated tooling.
  • Knowledge of metrology and experience with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
