Job summary

HSBC is seeking an experienced Assistant Director - Data and Analytics to lead analytics initiatives across multiple regions. You will act as a subject matter expert, mentor a team, and partner with business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality analytical solutions.

Strong communication, governance, and risk awareness are essential. You will work with modern analytics tools (R, Python, SQL, SAS) and visualization platforms, leveraging Pegasystems where applicable to enable Next Best Action

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of hands‑on analytics experience solving complex business problems using data.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputed university in statistics, economics, or another quantitative field.
• Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude, with knowledge of financial services and banking operations preferred.
• Proficiency in programming and analytics tools such as R, Python, SQL, SAS and cloud technologies.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Qlik Sense or similar).
• Experience with Pegasystems Customer Decision Hub and Next Best Action Designer preferred.

• Continually reassess operational risks and demonstrate adherence to internal controls and compliance requirements by following procedures, keeping appropriate records, and engaging compliance early on new initiatives.

To Be Successful You Will

• 7 to 10 years of hands‑on analytics experience solving complex business problems using data, with the ability to convert a business problem into an analytical problem.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputed university in statistics, economics, or another quantitative field.
• Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude, with knowledge of financial services and banking operations preferred.
• Good foundation in programming and analytics tools such as R programming language, Python programming language, Statistical Analysis System, Structured Query Language, and cloud technologies or equivalent platforms.
• Strong data handling skills with the ability to visualise datasets and tell a clear story through data, including experience with Looker, Qlik Sense, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Strong problem solving capability, strong written and verbal communication skills, and effective stakeholder management, with the ability to work effectively in teams across different geographies.
• Experience working on Pegasystems, with hands‑on experience in the Pegasystems Customer Decision Hub decision framework, with Next Best Action Designer preferred.
