Job summary

HSBC in India is seeking an experienced Assistant Director - Data and Analytics to lead analytics initiatives and coach teams across functions. You will translate business problems into analytics solutions and partner with stakeholders to drive data‑driven decisions.

The role requires deep hands‑on analytics experience, strong programming in R, Python, SQL, and expertise with visualization tools such as Looker/Tableau/Qlik Sense.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of hands-on analytics solving complex business problems with data.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in statistics, economics or another quantitative field.
• Strong analytical ability with business analysis aptitude; banking knowledge preferred.
• Proficient in R, Python, SAS, SQL and cloud technologies.
• Data visualization experience with Looker/Tableau/Qlik Sense.
• Experience with Pegasystems and Customer Decision Hub preferred.

• Lead and mentor a team to provide analytical and strategic solutions with clear articulation of recommendations.

• Interact with senior management and communicate and synthesize information in a simple form.

In this role, you will:

To be successful you will:

• 7 to 10 years of hands-on analytics experience solving complex business problems using data, with the ability to convert a business problem into an analytical problem.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputed university in statistics, economics, or another quantitative field.
• Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude, with knowledge of financial services and banking operations preferred.
• Good foundation in programming and analytics tools such as R programming language, Python programming language, Statistical Analysis System, Structured Query Language, and cloud technologies or equivalent platforms.
• Strong data handling skills with the ability to visualise datasets and tell a clear story through data, including experience with Looker, Qlik Sense, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Strong problem solving capability, strong written and verbal communication skills, and effective stakeholder management, with the ability to work effectively in teams across different geographies.
• Experience working on Pegasystems, with hands-on experience in the Pegasystems Customer Decision Hub decision framework, with Next Best Action Designer preferred.
