Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced AS/400 Application Specialist to guide the AI Tools team in modernizing IBM iSeries apps. You will lead analysis, refactoring, and data-flow tracing across RPG, COBOL, CL, and DDS code, while aligning with modernization and cloud integration strategies.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to AI-driven documentation and insights, ensuring compliance and quality across the migration journey.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in enterprise iSeries/AS/400 tech with 5+ years in analysis and modernization.
• Expertise in RPG III/IV/RPGLE, CL/CLLE, and COBOL.
• Proficiency in DDS, DSPFs, and SQL; Db2 for i knowledge.
• Understanding of IBM iSeries architecture, libraries, objects, service programs, and file structures.
• Experience with API/web-service enablement, UI modernization, and cloud integration.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate deep expertise in IBM iSeries (AS/400) applications and architecture.
• Analyze Db2 for i and SQL-based applications, tracing data flows and dependencies.
• Drive RPG refactoring, fixed-format to free-format conversion, and DDS-to-DDL updates.
• Collaborate with AI Tools team to improve prompts, rules, and documentation quality.
• Guide modernization, API/web services, UI uplift, and cloud integration efforts.
