Job summary

Kumaran Systems is seeking an AS400 Developer with 3–5 years of experience to design, develop, maintain, and support applications on the AS/400 platform. You will work with RPG, RPGLE, CL, and SQL, leveraging DB2/400 databases and system integration.

The role emphasizes debugging, performance tuning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient IBM i solutions. A strong foundation in file handling and API integration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 3–5 years of AS400/IBM i development experience.
• Strong RPG IV/RPGLE, CL, DB2/400, and SQL knowledge.
• Experience with debugging and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of file handling and integration with APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the IBM i / AS400 platform.
• Develop and maintain programs using RPG, RPGLE, CL, and SQL.
• Work with DB2/400 databases for data manipulation and reporting.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specs.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely solutions.
• Perform code reviews and ensure coding standards are followed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including BA, QA, and infra.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled AS400 Developer with 3–5 years of experience in AS/400 development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting applications built on the AS400 platform. The candidate should possess strong expertise in RPG programming, CL, DB2/400, and system integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the IBM i / AS400 platform.
• Develop and maintain programs using RPG, RPGLE, CL, and SQL.
• Work with DB2/400 databases for data manipulation, query optimization, and reporting.
• Analyze business requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely solutions.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams.
• Support system enhancements, upgrades, and performance tuning.Maintain proper documentation for applications and processes.

Required Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in AS400 / IBM i development.
• Strong experience in RPG IV / RPGLE / Free Format RPG.
• Good knowledge of CL programming.
• Experience working with DB2/400, SQL, and Query tools.
• Knowledge of file handling (PF, LF, DSPF, PRTF).
• Experience in debugging and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with source control and change management tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with API integration or web services on AS400.
• Knowledge of modernization tools or integration with other platforms.
• Exposure to Agile development methodology.
• Understanding of EDI or legacy system integration.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
