Job summary

Recrew AI is building a media super-app that unifies video, audio, radio, micro-drama, news, and commerce on a single platform. This foundational role owns the AI/ML capability powering recommendations, search relevance, and content intelligence across six content and commerce verticals.

The engineer will set the technical direction for how machine learning drives personalization as the platform scales beyond its initial phase.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production.
• Deep expertise in recommendation systems, search relevance, or learning-to-rank models with production deployments.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one modern ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent).
• Experience with large-scale user behavior and content data to power personalization.
• Strong mastery of the end-to-end ML lifecycle: data pipelines, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and serving.
• Demonstrated ability to operate as a high-impact individual contributor without direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Design and build recommendation systems that personalize content discovery across video, audio, radio, micro-drama, and news verticals.
• Improve search relevance and ranking models to accelerate content discovery across a rapidly growing catalog.
• Build content intelligence capabilities — tagging, classification, and metadata enrichment — to power discovery at scale.
• Own the full ML lifecycle: data pipelines, model training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Partner with the Backend Architect to integrate ML systems cleanly into the broader platform infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the Product Lead to translate product goals into measurable, ML-driven outcomes.
• Own the AI/ML technical roadmap, evaluating and introducing new models and techniques as usage data and platform scale grow.

Must Have Criteria

• 6–8 years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production
• Deep expertise in recommendation systems, search relevance, or learning-to-rank models — with production deployments to show for it
• Proficiency in Python and at least one modern ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent)
• Proven experience working with large-scale user behavior and content data to power personalization
• Strong command of the end-to-end ML lifecycle: data pipelines, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and serving
• Demonstrated ability to operate as a high-impact individual contributor — leading through technical authority without direct reports

Nice to Have

• Experience in a media, content, or commerce super-app environment
• Prior experience at a high-growth startup building 0→1 ML capabilities
• Familiarity with both content-based and collaborative filtering recommendation approaches across multiple content formats
• Experience with real-time inference systems and MLOps practices at scale
