Role Description

The Articled Assistant will support audit, assurance, taxation, and accounting engagements under the guidance of senior team members. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in statutory and tax audits, preparing working papers and documentation, performing ledger scrutiny, and supporting the preparation of financial statements and tax returns. The role involves helping with compliance activities, conducting basic research on accounting and tax matters, and contributing to client communication by gathering information and maintaining records. The Articled Assistant will also assist in implementing internal controls, participating in fieldwork at client locations, and adhering to professional standards and firm methodologies. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in accounting principles, auditing concepts, and taxation fundamentals; ability to apply these in practical client engagements.
• Competence in MS Excel, Word, and basic accounting software; familiarity with ERP or Tally-like systems is an advantage.
• Good analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and compliance work.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and clients, and for preparing clear work papers and reports.
• Ability to work diligently in a structured, deadline-driven environment, manage multiple assignments, and maintain professional ethics.
• Enrollment as an article trainee under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) with required eligibility; pursuing CA qualification is expected.
• Prior internship or practical exposure in audit, tax, or accounting firms is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Willingness to learn, adapt to new regulations and standards, and participate in continuous professional development initiatives.
