Job summary

Standard Chartered invites applications for a 12-month Operations Apprenticeship in Mumbai. You’ll get real responsibility from day one, supporting live processing activities and ensuring accurate, on-time transactions for clients.

You’ll build technical, analytical and problem-solving skills while learning about governance, controls and regulatory requirements that protect a global bank. This programme offers exposure to senior leaders and a path to a vital ops career.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from college in 2026.
  • Ability to work legally in India.
  • Strong academic performance with extracurricular involvement.
  • Comfort with data and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day processing activities to ensure transactions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Help monitor operational performance and customer service standards.
  • Assist in resolving client queries and improving service outcomes.
  • Track key metrics and maintain data to support reporting and decision-making.
  • Support managers in overseeing transactions and meeting payment obligations.
  • Learn how operational risk and controls work – and help ensure we meet regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within your team.

Operations Apprentice - India

Our 12 Months Apprenticeship Programme is designed to give you real responsibility from day one.

You won’t just observe how a global bank operates – you'll help power it. In Operations, you sit at the heart of how we deliver for our clients each day. You’ll work on live processes, support real transactions and help ensure our clients’ needs are met accurately, effectively, and safely.

Throughout The Programme, You’ll
  • Take ownership of meaningful assignments that impact real clients
  • Build technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Develop confidence working with data, systems and processes
  • Learn how risk, controls and governance protect a global bank
  • Strengthen your communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Gain exposure to senior leaders and thought-leadership sessions

By the end of the year, you’ll understand how a global bank runs behind the scenes – and the role you can play in shaping its future.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Operations Apprentice, you’ll support the teams that keep our banking engine running smoothly. You’ll:

  • Support day-to-day processing activities to ensure transactions are completed accurately and on time
  • Help monitor operational performance and customer service standards

You Should
  • Have graduated from college in 2026.
  • Have the legal right to work in India
  • Have strong academic performance and be actively involved beyond the classroom
  • Be confident working with data and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Be detail-oriented, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrate integrity and a strong sense of responsibility

No prior banking experience is required – just the motivation to learn and contribute.
