Job summary

AXA XL is seeking an Application Manager to lead development, production support and maintenance for multiple applications. You will report to the Delivery Lead and guide a matrix of Analysts, PMs and developers to achieve business goals.

You will drive product direction, ensure security compliance, manage SLAs and budgets, and coordinate with vendors and stakeholders to deliver high-quality services.

Qualifications

  • Experience in .NET technologies including .NET Core and REST APIs.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
  • Experience with Azure App Services and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Harness, OpenShift).
  • Proven skills in C#, Typescript and T-SQL (MS SQL Server).
  • Knowledge of system design, design patterns, and scalable architectures.
  • Experience delivering projects via Agile, iterative, or waterfall methods.
  • Ability to establish security requirements and governance across projects.
  • Strong leadership of multi-disciplinary technology teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee development, production support and maintenance for one or more applications.

  • Educate customers on product use and champion product improvements.
  • Coordinate with business and information security on risks and mitigations.
  • Manage SLAs, KPIs, budgets, and resource planning for IT applications.
  • Partner with Technical Architect to improve availability and continuity.
  • Prioritize maintenance items and defects; drive improvement opportunities.
  • Raise and manage Statements of Work and SLAs with vendors.
  • Ensure security and procurement compliance across outsourced work.
  • Balance demand and capacity; manage change impact on cost and schedule.

Job description

An Application Manager will oversee all development, production support and maintenance activities for one or more applications under a Delivery Team. S/he will report to the Delivery Lead, have operational and administrative responsibility for developers and have operational responsibility for matrixed resources (Analysts, PMs, etc.) that support her/his application suite.

What you'll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Provides vision and goals for team
  • Guides developers and support teams on product direction, project execution, issue resolution, and provide escalation framework via governance
  • Work to educate customers on best use of product and support sympathetic change to the product, clearly articulating trade-offs and risks
  • Difficulties requirements to ensure they are in alignment with product design and architecture
  • Work with business and information security to identify security risks and finding solutions, including risk acceptance
  • Support internal and external audits to ensure services are delivered in a controlled fashion without undue risk to the company
  • Manage service levels to ensure all commitments are met and any variances mitigated to reduce impact on overall cost, schedule, quality for business needs
  • Work with Technical Architect in defining, analyzing, planning, measuring and improving product availability and continuity
  • Identify and prioritize proactive maintenance action items
  • Review and prioritize product defects
  • Identify and champion improvement opportunities
  • Raise Statements of Work and/or Service Level Agreements with application development vendors for specific developments & changes with input from Program/Project Managers, Analysts, Solution Architects and Product Owners
  • Implements SLA / KPI alignment across the full SDLC for each SOW / SLA
  • Maintain positive relationship with suppliers in pursuit of company’s best interests
  • Estimate work requests at various levels of assurance and manage estimates against actuals to ensure change controls are appropriately managed
  • Manage risk to deliver on service levels commitments and project milestones
  • Serve as a point of escalation for risks and issues
  • Govern internal change processes and development documentation
  • Balance demand and capacity
  • Work to minimize impact of changes to project costs/P&L

You will report to Head of Reinsurance IT.

What you'll bring

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in development in .Net technologies: .NET, .NET Core, ASP. Net Core, ORMs like EF Core, Dapper, ADO. Net, Rest APIs etc.
  • Experience in development in one or more front end frameworks: Angular (preferred), React or Vue
  • Experience or familiarity with Cloud technologies like Azure App Services, CICD tools like Jenkins/ Harness, Open Shift Container platforms etc.
  • Proven development skills in one or more programming languages with additional skills in domain specific tools – C#, Typescript and T-SQL (MS SQL Server)
  • Familiarity with system design, design patterns, and designing scalable systems.
  • Proficient with multiple application delivery models including Agile, iterative and waterfall
  • Able to develop Knowledge Management strategy for applications
  • All outsourced work performed on applications in the group performed under a fully vetted contract in alignment with Procurement processes, including Security and Legal requirements
  • Solutions implemented address company security requirements
  • Expert level experience in planning and executing complex, large scale initiatives or operational area.
  • Budget, supply, and resource management for IT application development services
  • Significant leadership experience in IT with knowledge / skills for leading multi-disciplined technology teams
