Job summary

AXA XL in Bengaluru, Karnataka seeks an Analyst for CAT Modelling to support global stakeholders with analytical models and data preparation.

You will learn CAT modeling guidelines, work with underwriting teams, ERM, and pricing tools, and translate insurance terminology into modelling inputs while maintaining accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience in corporate insurance or CAT modelling preferred.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work with large data sets and complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication with underwriters and ERM.

Responsibilities

  • Learn CAT modeling guidelines and adhere to them while processing accounts.
  • Gain know-how on AXA XL business lines to perform tasks accurately.
  • Process pre- and post-bind risk modeling tasks using appropriate applications.
  • Translate bound package terms into modeling inputs and prepare exposure data.
  • Understand insurance terms like Ground Up Loss, Gross Loss, AAL, etc.
  • Support underwriting with Pricing decisions and data capture in Pricing Tool.
  • Communicate with Underwriters and ERM to resolve queries.
  • Use workflow and time-tracking tools for reporting.
  • Participate in internal projects and improvements with ERM.

To provide CAT model ling support to global stakeholders using analytical models developed by external providers to calculate losses pertaining to natural and man-made peril s.

What youll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include

  • Learning Catastrophe (CAT) Modeling guidelines and e nsur ing adherence to them while processing accounts.
  • Getting detailed know-how on the specific lines of business written at AXA XL in order to understand the tasks you perform.
  • Undertak ing the processing of various pre and post bind risk modeling tasks via usage of the appropriate application with adherence to the set accuracy, timeliness and productivity goals. The choice of application will vary depending on the product.
  • Analysing the bound package terms/conditions and translating them into the modeling application. Gathering and preparing exposure data to input into the model.
  • Would be required to understand/ apply the conceptual knowledge of various insurance terminologies like Ground Up Loss, Gross Loss, Client Loss, Occurrence Exceedance Probability, Loss ratio, AAL (Average Annual Loss),etc. while handling risk modeling request s and would in turn be required to respond back to the branch for queries regarding any variations on year-to-year basis. Might be required to interpret modelling results as well.
  • Support underwriting with Pricing decisions, thereby learning and correctly capturing the data in Pricing Too l, as and when applicable.
  • Communicating with Underwriters and ERM to help resolve queries.
  • Using workflow and time-tracking tools to ensure proper work organisation and reporting.
  • Constantly challenging existing processes and looking for improvement opportunities. Participating in internal projects/common initiatives together with ERM.

You will report to Assistant Manager.

What you will BRING

Required Skills and Abilities
  • MBA in Insurance.
  • PG Diploma in General Insurance.
  • Advanced Diploma in Insurance.
  • Associate in Insurance.
  • CERT CII.
Desired Skills and Abilities
  • Graduate in any discipline, preferably in Mathematics, Finance, Economics or Accounting.
  • Relevant years of experience in a corporate environment.
  • Good MS Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas). Knowledge of VBA will be an asset.
  • Sound n umerical ability and analytical mindset, inquisitive mind.
  • Ability to work with large amount of data, complex instructions and multiple exceptions.
  • Good organization skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good people skills, communicative and open to new challenges.
  • Fluent English (+other language if required).
