Job summary

Caldic is seeking an experienced Application Development Manager to lead Vitamin & Mineral premix design and food application development for the nutraceuticals sector. The role requires expertise in micronutrient chemistry, ingredient interactions, processing, and regulatory standards while coordinating with suppliers, procurement, manufacturing, QA, and commercial teams.

• B.Sc./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech. in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7–8 years hands-on experience in Vitamin & Mineral Premix formulation and food application development.
• Proven experience in independently designing commercial Vitamin & Mineral Premixes and selecting suitable raw materials.

Responsibilities

• Design vitamin & mineral premixes from scratch based on customer requirements.
• Select appropriate vitamin and mineral forms considering bioavailability, stability, solubility, sensory impact, cost, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and optimize applications across bakery, confectionery, beverages, cereals, snacks, sauces, nutrition products.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale trials to evaluate premix performance in food systems.
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges related to stability, colour, flavour, texture, processing.
• Work with customers during product development, scale-up, and commercialization.

About The Role

Caldic is looking for an experienced Application Manager with strong expertise in designing Vitamin & Mineral Premixes and Functional Blends for the Food & Nutraceutical industry. The role requires a technically sound professional who can independently develop scientifically robust premix formulations and support customers through application development across multiple food categories. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of micronutrient chemistry, ingredient interactions, food processing, regulatory requirements, and commercial product development while working closely with suppliers, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

Vitamin & Mineral Premix Development

• Design Vitamin & Mineral premixes from scratch based on customer requirements and product applications.
• Select appropriate vitamin and mineral forms (salts) considering bioavailability, stability, solubility, sensory impact, cost, and regulatory compliance.
• Understand the impact of pH, food matrix, water activity, oxidation, processing conditions, and packaging on nutrient stability and performance.
• Calculate processing overages and shelf-life losses to ensure nutrient label claims throughout the intended shelf life.
• Recommend suitable ingredient forms for different processing technologies including UHT, pasteurization, retort, baking, extrusion, hot filling, spray drying, and ambient processing.
• Develop cost-effective formulations without compromising quality or performance.
• Identify and evaluate suitable raw materials from global and local suppliers based on functionality, quality, regulatory compliance, availability, and commercial viability.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of food fortification regulations and recommended nutrient levels across different food categories.
• Ensure formulations comply with applicable food regulations and customer specifications.

Application Development

• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale application trials to evaluate premix performance in various food systems.
• Develop and optimize applications across all food categories including bakery, confectionery, beverages, cereal products, snacks, sauces, nutrition products, and other processed foods.
• Troubleshoot formulation and application challenges related to stability, colour, flavour, texture, and processing.
• Work closely with customers during product development, scale-up, and commercialization.
• Additionally, hands‑on experience in developing functional ingredient blends and validating their performance through food application trials.

Job Requirements

• B.Sc./B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech. in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7–8 years of hands-on experience in Vitamin & Mineral Premix formulation and food application development.
• Proven experience in independently designing commercial Vitamin & Mineral Premixes and selecting suitable raw materials.
